Would you walk away from the truth? For example, would you walk away from your true image? Your true image is a representation of who you are. Do you know who you are? What do you see when you look in the mirror? What you see is called reflection. That means that you are a reflection of many things like your consciousness, feelings, desires, actions and much more. And if you care about your appearance, reflection then you should care about your actions because those actions will reflect upon your true reflection. One day we will face the truth and we will have to live it. Please make sure that you can live with your actions because you will have to live with their reflection. Many of us when faced with the truth like true image would rather live a lie instead. Why? Well, because their true reflection is so ugly as a result of their ugly actions they would rather live a lie, false image than live with the consequences of their actions. Your image, reflection is like a home, a vessel for your mind, soul. What it means is that your reflection is built on the same principle as the house. And we do not build houses on assumptions or beliefs we build them on mathematical truth. What can happen if a house or any other structure is built on a lie, bad foundation? Well, that house or that structure is not meant to last and it will collapse. And what can happen to those who live in that structure? For example, they can become homeless. You can become a ghost if you don't have a reflection aka vessel, body (home) for your mind, soul. Don't forget, those who walk away from the truth are walking into hell. How long anyone needs to be in hell or hell like situations? Well, that depends on each individual. Eventually, they will get tired of the pain, suffering, building or rebuilding their lives on bad foundation and eventually, they will seek the truth instead of walking away from it. How do you know if you have suffered enough? Well, do you like to suffer? If you don't like suffering then you shouldn't contribute to suffering or feed on the suffering in any way or form. That is why I became vegan. If someone tells us that they do not like suffering and yet they choose to feed on the suffering of animals or others, shows that they do like suffering otherwise they would not do it and if they do like suffering so much then they should not complain about it, instead they should embrace it with open arms ✝.

Hey Pastor John, I am confused in the tension of how this is true while also needing to go to the nations (Romans 10). How can people have no excuse for the knowledge of God; therefore, having the freedom and knowing to follow and believe God, yet not be able to have salvation with Him unless they believe in the Son and confess that He is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead? As a man who loves God and wants others to know Him... I am confused on this tension and would love to have this explained. I came to asking this question through reading Psalm 98. Thank you for all you do Pastor John and the Desiring God team!

What can be known about God definitely: Romans 1: 24-32.

This is also known as "general revelation". General revelation is not a valid way to know the truth of anything. It assumes the conclusion (among other possible explanations), so it doesn't prove anything.

@@michauxbôts Don't look to a religion professor that teaches theology for scientific methods. Ask a science professor about what is needed to prove an assertion. Assuming the conclusion without evidence doesn't prove anything. You can get incorrect results if you do this. Einstein famously assumed the universe is steady state. The most recent data points to an expanding universe. So, Einstein was wrong in this case. The idea that ordinary people can know that God exists just by looking at nature and assuming that this is the "handiwork of God" would be an incorrect idea. Logic by itself can't prove an assertion. Observations and/or data are needed along with logic.

@@acts-me8xrthe very assumption that what we see in nature points to God is circular reasoning.
@acts-me8xr
@acts-me8xr 10 ай бұрын
@@jamesernest2976 ultimate presupposition or paradigm arguments are unavoidably circular & this is not a fallacy. And even areas of math, logic and linguistic philo. Are circular w/o being fallacious. For example: prove logic exist without using logic, or prove words have meaning without using words. These are basic beliefs or assumptions that cannot be justified by anything more fundamental. A couple more examples are the belief in the reliability of our cognitive faculties or the existence of an external world are such presuppositions that cannot be proven without assuming their validity, hence they are circular but not fallaciously so. At the level of normative daily experience and discourse circular arguments are fallacious. This is dealing with meta worldviews. You cannot appeal to anyone or anything higher than God. He is the precondition of intelligibility. No other worldview can consistently and reasonably account for these things.

@@acts-me8xr all you mention has nothing to do with religion let alone Christianity and the whole logic as pertaining to maths and sciences and the axioms used is a long conversation I can't begin to have in the comment section. Mathematicians like Kurt Godel had already pointed this out and it's not the same with circular reasoning used in religion.
