This guy is begging China for investement instead of making sure the Ethiopian government directly invests in Ethiopian industry and agriculture a.k.a the local domestic economy owned and run by Ethiopians. Abiy's neoliberal fever dream policies have increased the cost of living and doing business in the country so much so that domestic economy has shrinked and people simply can't afford to live and do business which is so sad 😢. Instead of addressing all this, he focuses on vanity projects like building vacant libraries, parks, and a palace. The current economy is completely malformed, but that's what you get when you take IMF and World Bank advice instead of planning your own economy.
