I see a big flaw in your review. Both of you are stressing on issues in storytelling but neither of you spoke about the original story by Moin Beg. Is it an issue with the original story itself or is it the issue in portrayal? Characters will directly get impacted due to this. If the original story has multiple tracks running then it's obvious here also you will see that. Though during film making you do make changes but if the story is not effective then it's adaptation also will be weak Mallikajan is shown with a single man but still she is against Mohabbat.. that's legit.... because of her insecurities as to whom will she rule if everyone leaves ... You said why everyone is shown as Muslim but if the original story is written like that then that's what will be presented. I feel comparison between original story and movie should have been done first followed by review on the aspects of this movie. Your review is very one dimensional. Also people are criticizing about historical inaccuracies but this itself is based on a story by Moin Beg and nobody ever said it's about history. Coming to language.. yes there are pronunciation and enunciation issues but the language or the way of speaking is not pretentious ... You need to remember it's somewhere during pre-partition era and not a 2024 story. I have friends from Lucknow, Rampur Aligarh side who never use words like 'mae', 'tum', 'tu' etc. it's always 'hum', 'aap'. They can't use language of current times. I have seen so many Pakistanis who say they know Urdu well but speak Urdu in Punjabi e.g. Husan (Husn), Qabar (Qabr), Fikar (Fiqr), Zikar(Ziqr) and many such words... This Urdu cannot be used in this period drama else that will be questioned. So somewhere you have to use this language. What do you have to say about Umrao Jaan (Rekha's)? Who uses that kind of language today but still the movie, songs, dialogues are a cult. The Legend of Maula Jatt has Gladiator flavour though nowhere you will see an environment like it but probably the treatment/story/script worked there. Same way these things have to be taken with a pinch of salt Though there are visible flaws but cinematic liberty is very much evident here which is fine. I feel unless we know the original story, we should not directly jump to the story telling.

My first time watching you ladies. As much as I think that it´s good to see anyone being able to share their views on social media, muaazrat se main kehna chaahoun gi, the lady in pink speaks ATROCIOUS Urdu. Iss se behtar hai insaan seedha Punjabi mein baat kar le. Please, I just want to give constructive criticism. Both of you ladies seem lovely, mash´Allah, and I wish you the best. The review was good. Very balanced and fair. As for the Urdu spoken...meri behnon, pretentious nahin tha lekin ji, bilkul bhi natural nahin lag raha tha, chuke aise loogon ko Urdu dialogues diye jo shaayad rooz-marra ki zindagi mein Urdu nahin boolte. 1940´s ke zamaane mein loog bahot achi Urdu boolte the. What I take issue with is the horrible pronounciation. They absolutely butchered Urdu! One out of many horrible examples is when Mallika jaan said "Gareebon mein khhaana baant do", saying "khhaana" as in "khaana badoosh". 😵(As if "gareebon" wasn´t bad enough). The actors kept claiming that Bhansali doesn´t miss even the tiniest detail of a background person, yet he missed the very dialogues? Strange! Another thing; why do you claim that nobody uses words like "Parheyz"? It´s a really common Urdu word. My family still says "Aise khaano se parheyz karna chahiye", and we are overseas Pakistanis (parents have lived here more than 50 years now). Kya Urdu ka mayyaar itna kharaab ho chuka hai Pakistan mein? Afsoos. Also, jaise aap loog bool rahi hain, vaise aadmi ko aik professional channel ya vlog mein nahin boolna chahiye. "Yaar", "yaar" all the time. You represent the country, whether you intend to or not. I kindly ask you to work on your language. The English is also very very off. It´s not "authentiCITY", "parpas" (instead of "purpose"), "definaytlee", "represenTAYTIVES", "modREN" and many more. Please work on your speaking skills and pronounciation.

Bhansali's scripts are always shit (barring a few), his filmmaking is just Curtains and Jhoomers and sets. Don't know why ppl overrate him too much
