Tariffs on import goods will cost the manufacturers/companys and consumers more money and in return the consumes will not buy as much which leads to less freight and less freight means less freight for truckers. Diesel may be dirty, but bio-diesel is way worse. DPF clog way more with bio and it gets worse as the percent of bio goes up. Pellet stove users know all about it. Corn burnt in a pellet stove requires a daily cleaning while only wood pellets require a cleaning every 10 days or longer due to the ash content of grain when burnt. A drawback to ulsd is that now farmers are having to apply sulfur as a micronutrient now that diesel exhaust no longer supplies it. The refinery folks are more than happy to remove it from diesel and sell it by the ton to farmers for a higher price.

If there is nobody in the truck then whoever chose to deploy that truck on the road is the controller. If we can get the public and the courts to wake up and smell the logic of personal responsibility regarding this, we can nip this nonsense in the bud because who would be dumb enough to put it on the road if they knew that, in the event of an accident or any type of violation, they would be dealt with as if they were behind the wheel.

The owner operator will not mess with the truck and lot careful and due diligent. So insurance and other discounts should apply. Otherwise small business and lot more things what Trump said and Harris didn't say is unfelt. We have to see lot more in terms of Truck Driver enroute safety, tax provisions, earnings, health benefits, Emergency centers specifically for truckers while in routes which are remote. DOT rules and harsh officers treating truckers badly lot and lot more should reform soon.

The grid in the US is not capable of having EV's in any significant capacity. When home computers got popular in the late 90's, they were concerned the grids couldn't handle it. They haven't improved much since and can't keep up with heating and cooling homes in extreme weather. It's not feasible. It would be like building the interstate highway system all over and would take a ton of diesel equipment to build and maintain.
