As a mid career Software Architect. I've found myself having a connection to the engineering school from where I (eventually) graduated. This talk was really useful and I really would want to rally around the idea of having older generations mentoring the young regardless of the level.

We're so glad that you enjoyed the video! We are also trying to get younger people involved with vintage computers.

Super thoughtful talk. As a dad now trying to evaluate what is next and what to expose my kids to and how to expose them, you want to show what you'd experienced with them. For things like hunting, this never changes. But for tech? It is different.

Yeah. It's great to show the younger generation the "older" tech that you grew up with.

@@vcfederationmore than that, it is a political act in our changing world. Already, ‘coding’ is largely surveilled as most actions in an online system are. That is not the case with these systems. This is apart of the education. Just look at Zimmerman (PGP developer) or the developer of bitcoin.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on GenZ being more resilient than previous generations. Resilience is an important life skill that is not formally taught. Lucky are the few that have the parents or mentors that do. Being GenX myself, I am deeply aware of the extreme privedge we possess, of what we have now and what has been developed in our lifetime. The 80s and 90s were a unique time in history. In all of human endeavour there has rarely been technologies that advanced so quickly and became so inexpensive to the point they ended up in the hands of teenagers. I for one am truly grateful for living through this time.

the main issue is that we have a useless crop of politicians and financiers controlling the world as we know it, who prevent great things to happen by their action.

Glad that you liked the video! I too am glad that I lived through the 80's and 90's and lived through the transition from analog to digital, from big inexpensive computers to smaller desktop computers that an individual could afford.

As individuals we can only do what we can to improve those around us.
