What can we do about the extreme heat across Asia?

Authorities are issuing health warnings as parts of Asia bake under sweltering heat. The Philippines has suspended in-person classes, while Bangladesh has extended its heatwave alert. Soaring temperatures in Thailand have led to a record surge in power usage over the weekend. Professor Kathryn Bowen of the University of Melbourne shares with CNA’s Asia First what needs to be done to alleviate the effects of extreme heat on people.

SG government isn't doing anything useful to reduce temperatures, only telling people to take preventive measures to prevent heat-related health problems and not addressing root causes. With cutting down huge trees and forests for buildings and housing, trying to create green spaces and planting trees from scratch are like putting a plaster on a huge open wound. Money, housing, economy and political legitimacy are what the SG government are more concerned about, not the environment. There comes a time when having too much (too much money and too much stuff) is more detrimental than good, and that time is now. Individuals can only try to do so much to reduce carbon footprint. The ones that are capable of effecting real change is the government, MNCs, huge organisations and corporations, and people of money and power.

If humans continue "business as usual", we might see 80-100 million deaths due to the heat every summer. Heat is killing more people than all other weather extremities combined. It is indeed the biggest, silent killer. 875000 deaths in India due to the heat in 2023. 200000 deaths across Southeast Asia. Yet the top emitters don't see this alarming.
@CaptainObvious0000

It IS already measured per capita, meaning per person. Hence you found these data on the internet. Equal rights for everyone is of course total baloney. Impossible to ever achieve. Like: I'm severely ill, I don't get equal rights. My 'rights' are to work as much as I can stand and then have pain and feel more ill and exhausted for the rest of the time. And I'm from Western Europe. I get no benefits as chronic Lyme Disease is not recognized by the CDC, because it started in a laboratory 4 just across the town of Lyme, USA. And their opinion leads. Extremely unjust and not equal.

30 degrees Celsius at midnight in most parts of the Philippines. These governments could easily contribute towards solar projects for sub-solar plants and then assist the end user in obtaining solar power. This will help most homes not having to be ripped off as they are for power costs, and then possibly allow them to make use of air -conditioners to be more comfortable.

We are investigative journalists and have received tip offs about PAP ministers and high ranking public officers turning down their air-condition in office to below 25 degree C despite a ruling forbidding it. If you are a government staffer or member of public, who happens to witness, please take picture or video evidence discretely and send it to our editors at TOC.

We really need to come up with , eco friendly technologies as energy sources . Everyone should also know and taught how to conserve and save our Green Planet. World Leaders should think of these intead of funding wars.

Remember: We are voting for this world-"leaders". We have already eco-friendly tech, but not used because of ? We are too small, others should do - we are not responsible, the others are - and most of all: its too expensive for no reason at all. Years ago in india an educated man said to me: "You polluted the oceans with plastics, now it's our turn". Nothing will change with such mindset.

Lost of (????)L daily as a form of vapor of water from the ground,has a big effect to rise or reduce of temperature by veiling the rays of the sun,and decreasing the earth's radiation... Vapor condensation creates clouds that veil the sun totally,earth and atmosphere ... This a mount of water vapor became produced from(seas and oceans)... This means,the percentage of water vapor which produced from the ground and the (seas&oceans )is difficult... This means the pressures of the air in the atmosphere are different too... This case means the change in the directions of winds,which some called climate change and some called global warming, and then NINO and then LANINA, and this year they called global cooling... Results : These directions of winds, must be balanced... These studies had completed and sent on July 26th 2000... Yousif A Tobiya
