This is so true, Henry. For so long, I was longing to feel Christmas like I did when I was a child. Being in the Philippines with a small child of my own and the simple pleasures of fellowship with family has given me that feeling again. Hope you and Vi had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

To me in my 7yrs. here, Filipinos know how to take time to enjoy life. The social aspect is HUGE & materialism not so important. Lot of song, dance, cooking, conversing with anyone & everyone not just your own little circle. People not as judgmental & overall greater acceptance of people w/less competitiveness.

I have never been particularly materialistic, though I do enjoy motorcycles.Nonetheless I have found that my appreciation of experiences and relationships over stuff has increased within me organically as I got older(I am now 61) especially since the loss of my father around a decade ago.
