The chocolate brand Moser-Roth has an interesting history. It dates back to 1841, and was a niche chocolate manufacturer in Germany, but got in trouble to fight against the big brands. Since 2007 the brand was revived and belongs to Storck (known for Werther’s Original, Toffifay, Riesen/Giant toffee chewy candy) and exclusively produce chocolate for Aldi. It’s really nice chocolate and can easily compete with most of the big brands (and as a bonus, usually they don’t use shitty palm oil but real coca butter instead)

A timely video as an Aldi opened locally to me only this week! In respect of some items I think one must consider the size/weight/quantity to see if it is actually that much cheaper than the equivalent in, say, Tesco/Sainsbury's. Don't worry about getting your words out, it is an aspect which makes your presentation come across as you, as opposed to an edited perfect voice over. A second video day? Sunday or Wednesday.

you can't beat Aldi for value, their specially selected ranges are usually very good, usually like the special selected curry sauces highly recommended, those cheeses I would recommend.
@w.falconer72602 жыл бұрын
Gosh, the prices are astounding, given the quality of some of the products! Coming from Canada's west coast, I'm used to paying up to triple the cost of many similar things. The cheeses were particularly shocking! For example, at a typical chain supermarket we'll pay about C$9 for a 200gr piece of decent English cheddar like Coastal brand, although we tend to shop for a our cheese at Costco, where a 400gr piece of the same will set us back about C$13. This will leave you gobsmacked (as it did me): the other day I was in my local shop and looking through the aisles and came across a few jars of Hartley's blackcurrant jam with the original £1.69 label -- shelf price: C$8.99! I understand that imported foods tend to be a bit costlier, but locally produced is often as much, and often more. Whenever we visit the UK, we tend to shop M&S and Waitrose which, while expensive by UK standards, are still much cheaper than what we regularly pay at home! Will definitely check out Aldi next time around. Oh, btw, a Chrimbo tour of both M&S and F&M would be lovely, please!
@kartofle1232 жыл бұрын
Canadians get ripped off in virtually everything we pay for. Why is a car in Vancouver $15-$20k more then the same car just over the border in Seattle? Cell phone billing, food, insurance... I could go on but we Canadians gladly get sheared like the sheep that we are.

Sadly in South Aus the Government declined to let Aldi have a Liquor License but I have bought it interstate.

It is so interesting to see what an Aldi looks like in the UK (from the perspective of a German). Many products are the same, except for a few foods. But why is the union jack visible on almost every product? Is it then for a local product or can the things with a flag be sold better (in Germany there is no flag on the products).😊 Ah, and we have very little ready-made food. That's more of a small area.😅

Hannah, if you enjoy drinking tea, you should try Marks and Spencer's 'gold' tea, all the brands sell a version of their tea in a 'gold' version, including PG Tips and Yorkshire tea, but not all stores carry it, only usually the really large supermarkets, which are rare in London, although you can buy them online. I've tried them all and I've found the Marks and Spencer's 'gold' to be the best, when dried out, all tea gets graded and sieved, and the regular tea bags that we buy simply contains the lowest grade made up of dust and fannings. The 'gold' variety is the next step up and contains a better quality tea and a few larger leaves. You do get used to the taste of one brand, so I always recommend buying two types of tea and rotating them, then you'll always appreciate the flavour. But if you make a cup with regular PG tips and a cup from M&S Gold, you honestly should find a big difference and you'll never go back.
@HannahRicketts2 жыл бұрын
A few have said the same, I will get some thanks!
@adam461smith2 жыл бұрын
@@HannahRicketts Whilst you are there, M&S also sell pure origin teas. The Kenyan pure blend is a good one, I think it's only around £1.80 for 50 tea bags, well worth a go. Most of the standard British tea we drink actually comes from Kenya, PG Tips, Typhoo, etc. It's only the more expensive tea that blend African leaves with Indian leaves such as Assam. M&S also sell Assam as part of their pure origin range, but the Kenyan blend will the closest that you should be used to drinking, just a better quality. The problem is, the taste of tea will come down to the water being used to make it with, and London tap water isn't great. I remember a story once where a lady from London went on a little vacation up North and fell in love with the tea, best tea she'd ever tasted! The lady who owned the guesthouse where she stayed gave her some of the Yorkshire tea bags to take home with her so she could continue to enjoy it, when she got home and made a brew, it tasted terrible, it wasn't the tea bags she liked, it was actually the water it was made with. Some tea purists recommend boiling and brewing with bottled water, I tried it once with a bottle of Evian but it gave the tea an 'oil slick' on top which must have been due to the mineral content. Well that's quite enough about tea for one lifetime. Mind you, you could always make a video of brewing several brands of tea and trying it on camera, but I'm sure you're busy enough with the walking vlogs, but you could always branch out if you wanted to. Keep up the great work!

@lyndabond14432 жыл бұрын
@@sarahmc8309 Hi 👋. I don’t think that nurses get paid enough there either. The pay rate in Canada 🇨🇦 is a bit better. The USA 🇺🇸 definitely pays nurses extremely well. But all of this has to do with the fact that in American, we have to pay for insurance, hospitalization, dental insurance and more. We don’t have a national healthcare system as the UK 🇬🇧 and Canada 🇨🇦. I’m really all for a national healthcare system as many Americans would have access to even the simplest things. Here, their are actually hospital’s that are private and do not have to take even an emergency patient, unless it’s a “ life or limb “ then if they do..as soon as the person is out of danger, they are transferring to another hospital. Not all our hospitals are the same. Some will take anyone in need and other’s only if you have the type of insurance they use. We have so many insurance companies it’s ridiculous. I pay over $575. 00 a month for my health insurance including dental. Our system stinks. But until the government gets the reality of how many people want a national healthcare system, we’re stuck. You make a very good point though. Thanks 😊 for the reply.

Great vlog- well done in there, it can be difficult! Fridays and Sundays seems like a good routine of two a week. ❤

ALDI'S is clearly the cheapest guy in any town--although prices do vary by location. I vote for Thursday as the day for your extra vlogs during the Christmas Season. The vlogs will be back-to-back with a "double dose" of our🌹 "English Rose"⚘---the one & only HANNAH! But whatever day you choose--We will all be watching!😍

Gahhhh I miss UK food prices, and London in general. 😭 Nice to see the NZ wine in there. Sadly living costs here in New Zealand are ridiculously out the gate, and our food costs are even worse. Your £30 haul here was easily atleast NZ$100-120. Not even exaggerating. To go from paying £2-3 for berries, mangoes etc to coming home to a punnet of blueberries costing between NZ$9-20 is seriously depressing. Ahhh nonetheless enjoyed this vlog as per!! 😊😊

Hannah! I am sure I am not alone when I say that I enjoy your various shops and visits to various sights around London. Your commentaries are fun and the thumbnails look super! I’m in Canada and we have this annoying thing of the tax being added at the register- argh. No Aldi here either.😊

Great vlog Hannah & what nice grocery values you found! It is hard to believe that you will be starting your Christmas vlogs next week!!! What about a Wednesday/Saturday schedule for your upcoming multiple vlogs per week? I look forward to ALL the upcoming terrific holiday store displays & features that you have in store for us in the near future! As always, thx so much Hannah for your amazing vlogs, & continue to stay safe & healthy! I am already looking forward to next week!!!

Wow crumpets in 🇨🇦 are much more pricey than 35p, like the earrings 😊
