I don't know how I did not mention one of the biggest pro's of April....No Lift Lines!!

Same situation in France right now. Really thin on piste or runs closing at 2000m and below and nothing off piste at all, but lots of depth further up. Slush everywhere. It is warmer than normal right now with 20 degrees C predicted today and tomorrow at 2000m plus elevation, not seen that in over 40 years skiing in France - a good 5 or more degrees warmer than i've seen before. Great fun in the park though 🙂

Wow, that is warm! It does make for fun park days. Snowskates are pretty fun in the slush too. I would love to experience the riding in France one day. Thanks for the info and comment

@@RidingThruLife France is great for sure, many really famous places like Chamonix and Val D'Isere. If you like massive resorts with endless options, there is nowhere better IMO. I usually ski Les Trois (3) Vallees. There are about 6 really high quality alpine towns that make up the area two in each of the 3 valleys. It is unrivalled for scale for sure, something like 120 uplifts and over 600Km of marked runs. Amazing place, snow being equal i've never skied anywhere better because of how big it is and the terrain around is excellent. So many excellent pistes and off piste if you get the snow is amazing, again i would say possibly better than anywhere else - snow being equal. If you were to come to France, go for Late Jan or Early Feb and try to avoid the French school holidays. They can make it rather busy. Just google search french school holidays and you'll find it easy enough.

A few years ago, my then girlfriend (an accountant) and I went after tax season ended on April 15th. We were there for 10 days. I've skied Whistler countless times and I have to say that week was one of the best. Mid-winter conditions up top and the usual at the bottom. It snowed a lot. The conditions in the alpine were incredible, everything was open and no lift lines. We got lucky.

Sounds like you had an incredible trip. That's amazing. Sneaky April! Love the no lift lines, really helps make you feel like you have the place to yourself. Thanks for the comment.

Ive been riding in the Canadian rockys since the late 80's, The lack of snow is shocking. Going up to whis used to feel like you are driving through a tunnel because the snow was stacked so high. Not looking forward to the future.

We get the tunnel effect in our driveway too, though not the last couple of years. Thanks for the comment!!

The biggest problem with being motivated to snowboard in April is that the bike trails are clearing down in the valley. So given the choice, MTB wins.

100%!!! I love Spring on the hill but once that first ride hits, not even in Whis, but out in Pemby or Squamish I am usually done. 😜 You could do both if you're keen. I rode for a few hours before this video actually.😀
