Thanks for a brilliant video and the best explanation I've seen! It's a relief that I won't be looking like something from the Hair Bear Bunch on site now!! 😆

Thanks for your support Lisa. It is really appreciated. A huge thanks for the “coffee” too. Very nice of you. The “Help! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch…” Wow that just took me right back!

Useful info as usual, we've got the low wattage kettle and toaster which I think are the essential items although our toaster is a bit like Arkrights till and will launch the toast in any direction once cooked! Our coffee machine is a pod type and we haven't had any issues on a site with only a 10amp hook up, but that's probably because we don't have other appliances on at the same time

Thanks, that is the trick. Knowing what is on at the same time. Thanks for watching.

Great advice, very useful as I’ve tripped the electric once before. Yep I used the toaster, kettle and microwave at the same time. I know better now. Thanks

I was always under the impression you could run anything whilst on hookup similar to electric in your house. I haven't been anywhere with hook up yet so wasn't aware of the limitations
@LiveforTravel8 ай бұрын
The National Grid is likely putting 100 amps into your home. Maximum at a campsite is typically 16 amps. Some are 10 amps or less.
@samanthalemmon75768 ай бұрын
@LiveforTravel I had a reply back from a campsite I'm going to and they say their supply is 12 volts which I think they mean amps
@LiveforTravel8 ай бұрын
@@samanthalemmon7576 it certainly won’t be 12v. A 12 amp supply will give you a maximum of 2760 watts.

When you say the 3 pin wokt wprk with out it being plugged in what do you mean ? My citroen relay works when plugged in or not ? All you have to do is turn on the inverter and i can use the 3 pin plus to chatge my laptop even if thats vans on electric hook up or not ?:)
@LiveforTravel Жыл бұрын
That would be as you have an inverter. These vans, like most, do not come with one.

Can you plug in an electric car, to trickle charge on a granny charger that you would use at home (a 3 pin plug)
@LiveforTravel7 ай бұрын
Most vehicle manufacturers limit the current drawn from a standard domestic 3 pin socket to 10A or less, which equates to a maximum of 2.3kW. Therefore, it depends on what the site uses and whether they restrict the use for charging an EV.

How does electric hook up actually work?
@LiveforTravel Жыл бұрын
In what regard? On a campsite that has an electric hook up, which can vary in the amount of watts/amps available, plugging in your van energises the 3 pin plug sockets in the van and usually helps to keep the leisure battery/batteries charged too.
