It means Capcom is serious about listening to the fans' voices. They're testing the waters to see if there's a market for bringing back certain titles. Capcom will be looking at social media to see which games are talked about more than others and checking streams on Twitch and KZbin to see which ones are being played the most.

I think it’s all cumulative like a big hype katamari and we really do need to thank the first Capcom Fighting Collection for it. That was not just a litmus test for new Darkstalkers, that was a test for if the gaming community would pay for the preservation of classics above all. Of course that leads to different places and CvS3 and MvC4 seem more likely than ever, but the immediate thought on the sales of that first collection was “we can just pump these out”

Psp had some good fighting games for sure, but I didn't take them seriously. Since you couldn't really play online against people. Sure you could technically play other people using wireless LAN, but nobody did that. And of course trying to play on that tiny d pad was not optimal at all.

Also there was that really pervasive belief back then that americans kids couldn't enjoy games with too much text...I dunno, they where too dumb to read or Something. That's why so many RPGs or other story heavy games never left Japan until the 2000s. And because many European games where based on the US version, Europe never got all of these either.

Dan is said to have a little sister, but we don't know if that's her. In Marvel vs Street FIghter, Dan's sister is established to be a character called Yuriko Hibiki, but this is not canon to the Street Fighter games until proven otherwise. We canonically do know that the chairperson learned martial art through a correspondence course in Saikyo Style.

Rival Schools is still in limbo, but Project Justice seems to have finally been cleared given they have it as part of this collection. It's less about the content and more about the documentation of the product. I talk about this a lot but if you all are interested in the real meat and potatoes, all you have to do is a search for the licensing, trademarks, patents, and/or copyrights of any game (or any product for that matter) because it's all public info. You'll find links to several legal websites that have the info. That's legit all I do! 😂

Fate is the easiest license they could get because Typemoon does licensing by individual games only instead of by time periods or other ways. Like the license has been used by 4 companies in the last few years. Aniplex(FSN and FGO), French bread(Melty blood with fate characters), Koei tecmo(Fate/Samuria remnant) and Bandai namco(Fate/Extra records). Typemoon is super chill about these kind of things too, just a small talk and negotiating how much work each will do(+bringing 8ing) and they can come with some quick agreement. TM isnt very demanding they are more of the mindset of giving freedom to the creators to do whatever cool ideas they might have "Just go a do fun stuff". its just more up to capcom themselves if they want it or not.

Outside of Fighting Games, I wish we'd get the Strategy games in these Collections. Namco X Capcom and Project X Zone would probably be the ones they'd get if they did, PXZ2 has Nintendo characters in it which may make it difficult to put on multiple platforms (unless they did a Nintendo exclusive edition with 2 in it).

There are so many fighting games that haven't gotten into a recent compilation (not counting the SF 30th compilation since they're just slapping games from that onto more recent compilations) that I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 3rd fighting collection. So Tech Romancer is definitely still on the table. They'll probably sell people on it with either the SF3 games or SFEX.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I think the reason for holding back some games is to make sure they have content for Capcom Fighting Collection 3. They can’t dump every highly requested game in one collection (or in this case, two). I could be wrong, but I think the first Fighting Collection sold pretty well. Hopefully, we will end up getting Rival School NEXT time. Meanwhile, as long as I’m wearing my two-sizes-too-small Wishful Thinking Hat, I’m starting to feel like Konami could…maybe…possibly…be learning. Specifically, from Capcom. We’ve gotten 3 Castlevania collections, a Contra collection, and the first of multiple Metal Gear collections (I know Master Collection was far from perfect, but I’ve had fun with it). There is now some really positive buzz about Silent Hill 2, which is good to hear, after that disconcerting trailer. There’s also been people saying positive stuff about MGS Snake Eater Δ. I know, it’s Konami. If there’s a will to screw it all up, they will find a way… But I’m feeling cautiously optimistic. I don’t really care to have Snake’s story continue without Kohima. But Konami could tell new stories in that universe without stepping on the legacy of the original games. I also think a good place to continue their rehabilitation might be a 2.5D Castlevania in the vein of Metroid dread (in terms of the way that the limited 3D is incorporated). Obviously, their limited attempt to revive Contra was a swing and a miss, but I don’t expect them to change over night. And then, finally, I think revisiting the original Metal Gear Solid would be awesome. In my opinion, MGS is in more dire need of a remake than Snake Eater.

Given Capcom Fighting All-Stars wasn’t specifically centered on just Capcom’s fighting games, did have new original characters like King of Fighters did, and Capcom had a bunch of sprites they could’ve reused from Marvel vs Capcom 2... it’s kind of weird that wasn’t the direction they want. At that time their Marvel style games were even the more popular, so it probably would’ve also done better.

Oh man I REALLY want that so bad but I would also want to keep the vibes, gore and sexuality of the series intact. Seems highly unlikely for current Capcom to pull this off, especially when they felt the need to censor a screenshot of tame nudity from the collection in the first place... Plus I don't think they have a financial incentive to try and do that in the first place. If anything, Max being absolutely crazy over MvC showed that it's simply easier to monetize the mainstream appeal of superheroes than that of Monsters, Hunters and edgelords.

I wish Namco would've ported Soul Calibur II HD to the Switch with Link included, but Namco hasn't really give Nintendo any of their major titles, it took until a couple of weeks for Ace Combat 7 to arrive on Switch, and Kazuya is still the only third-party character in Smash whose games he appears in aren't on Switch, I know Harada said they tried porting Tekken 7 on the Switch but it wasn't feasible, but they should have released a Tekken collection with the first three games and Tag Tournament.

Well, I wouldn't mind a SoulCalibur collection WITHOUT the guests. I have never cared about them, and sometimes they tend to overshadow the main cast (looking at you SC2). The only time I cared about guests was in SC6, and actually not the guests themselves but their style for custom characters. In any case, then just a remaster of SC3, that one doesn't have the guest problem and personally, it's my favorite one in the series.

I think it was smart putting Capcom Fighting Evolution in this package. In a hypothetical scenario where we get SF EX collection, or another collection, Fightinf Jam would weigh the package down imo. Whereas in a package this stacked, where we've been waiting for these games for so long, it doesn't have any negative impact on the package as a whole. They get to release it, for the fans that want it, without it being seen as s dud collection, because the rest is stacked.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom would be easier to deal with for licensing now than back in 2008/2009, because almost all of those old international licenses have since long expired. Literally the only Tatsunoko anime represented in TvC that has any sort of current international license is Gatchaman; there was a point where Sentai Filmworks had a multi-title deal with Tatsunoko, but even that expired years ago. Really, the only Tatsunoko IP in TvC that'd be "trouble" would be Karas, as that OVA was made with a production committee, so that group would have to be reunited in order to get all of the partners to approve it. Not impossible, but that'd really be the only major hold up today; there's also Tekkaman Blade, but that just requires getting Sotsu involved. Even Hakushon Daimaoh, the genie that had to get removed for UAS due to licensing issues in Europe, is no longer a problem since his outfit was included in Dead or Alive 5, alongside other Tatsunoko character outfits, so that old license had also expired.

If 3rd Strike does get a re-release, I would like to see them add an extra mode that mashes New Gen, 2nd Impact, and 3rd Strike into one game. Similar to what they did for Street Fighter Anthology with Hyper Street Fighter Alpha, and Street Fighter 2 Anniversary Edition, they could make it so you can pick a character based on each game and have different match ups. Plus it would be nice to just have every stage and its music playable in one game.

SF3 Double Impact on Dreamcast was a beautiful bundle. I remember seeing Third Strike re-released numerous times. But never picked those up, because I used to have SF3TS on the Dreamcast. I no longer have it anymore, but it was sweet. Especially when the music would shift from each round. So good. I loved it. I really wished that the SF30th anniversary had the complete game, instead of just the arcade only edition.

In doing some research, it seems the EX games, the original 2 versions of Rival Schools and the original Star Gladiator run on version's of Playstation arcade architecture. I feel like it makes sense to try and include all of them in a collection together

Just as a heads up Darkstalkers did not get a Collection on PSP. Darkstalkers on PSP, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, was more akin to Hyper Street Fighter II as it was VSAV with Version Select (for both the characters as well as the gameplay), and is itself a port of a Dreamcast game titles Vampire Savior Chronicle for Matching service. However this PSP game did Have Art as well as Endings from all 3 games in the series so there is a compilation aspect to this game with that. Darkstalkers did get a proper collection PS2, Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection, which is the sister release to Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, they share the same Menu UI and everything.

Tech Romancer is a 90s mech anime fan's wet dream. It's so chock-full of content for what it is, it's nuts. Loved how many different genres the game pulled off, and the choose-your-own-adventure style branching of the storylines. A lot of replayability, and just super entertaining single-player mode. Would be really neat to see them bring it back, but I'm not holding my breath.

Was talking with a friend yesterday, best case scenario for a third collection would be Street Fighter MAX 1-3 Techromancer Saturday Night Slamasters 2 Heritage for the Future Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max Final Fight Revenge If they really wanna hold Max back tho they could replace it with Sengoku Basara X. Theres a lot of different emulation tech that would go into a collection like this, but if they want to keep doing 8 per collection they’re gonna have to do it anyway

This new collection is my jam because those are games I grew up playing with a tremendous nostalgic attachment, and it will be something else to play Power Stone and Project Justice with other people online. It's totally down to emulation issues, the official CFC2 site states that its version of Plasma Sword is based on the Dreamcast code, not the ZN-2 arcade original, and Tech Romancer was co-produced with Studio Nue, they may not have all the rights to re-release it.
