I believe it - the others seemed to be progging normally, wiping to DoTH as they would without the addons - clearly they didn't have the DONT LOOK mod installed. It's a shame that people will jump on the hate wagon for the whole static, when the only person we have actual evidence of cheating is the bard. I can tell you for sure that outside of one guy who streams, I can't tell if anyone in my static is using mods or not. How would I ever know unless something like this happens or they tell me?

As a person that has a low end system that has limited adjustability on FFXIVs UI elements, I appreciate Arthars' view that UI adjustments aren't cheats. I've tried the mods before to make party list info easier to see before and adjust the text position on the enemy cast bar to easier see the name. But I've since then refrained from doing so to experience the game how most people experience it. But I really appreciate him not shaming people for using UI improvements/flexability.

@@MrAngryMonkey100 exactly having things like a parsing list is fine but their mods were doing things that were explicitly in place to clear the content which is cheating. there are no add-ons in FF14 that are necessary to clear any content in game to include ultimates. anything that does the sort of thing to make it easier is straight up cheating.

@@MrAngryMonkey100 i dont play WoW but ive been told that there are some raids in that game that cannot be done without mods the devs made those raids with the intent for players to use them. FF14 complete opposite there is no reason or necessity to use mods in game. glamour mods fine. things like a parsing mod fine as well but mods that tell you where and when AOEs are going to hit not fine at all its good he was banned.

No but the "hard core raiding community" (And i use that term very lose because most of you have no clue what it means to be a "hard core raider" ) Requires you have it...sounds like what was going on in WoW?? I said this in the past: FFxiv is becoming WoW 2.0 and the "hardcore raiding community" are stupid enough to repeat the same mistake twice. after all that has gone on over the last 4-6 It's no wonder a lot of folks have already have the impression that "HC raiders" are not legit players. Also nice boiler plate statement, I seen that statement in a few places already other than here on YT so how about you start using your thinking for yourself instead of being a sheep, another reason your not a HC raider...

I didn't use addons while playing FF11 and yet I did fine, 5 macro buttons to swap out everything for precast to midcast, lets go baby.

There was a time when addons like this were considered cheating in WoW as well. In like, the Vanilla/BC era. It started the same way as well. Just trying to fix the godawful UI and make things more understandable. But it escalated. The modding became so rampant that eventually Blizzard just said 'fuck it' and started designing the game around stuff like DBM and Weakauras existing. There were even addons that would check OTHER PEOPLE'S PCs to see if THEY also had the addons. Don't have DBM installed? Kicked. Imagine if the addons the guy in this video was using also had a feature where they could tell if you also used them as soon as you joined their party, and they would kick you if you didn't have them.

I feel like Arthars and some other raiders aren't really understanding that some ppl fear this escalation because they lived in it, which is why they are against UI mod. (Also personally I don't think having a moddable UI is a good thing because it can and often times has, lead to developers sleeping on UI problems because there were ppl fixing it for them for free)

I played FFXI first, then WoW, then FFXIV. I was afraid of exactly what you described happening in FFXIV. The UI mods and all that were the "slippery slope" for me that made me sweat when I thought about the future of FFXIV. "Oh no... these mods exist... surely the next step... is DBM..." And we thought Cactbot was bad. Like you described, I remember specifically in WoW being forced to use DBM (during Wrath) and raid leaders being able to check if people were using it. I didn't even know that functionality existed until one day I saw someone make mention of it (checking everyone in the group to see if they were using it, and even what version, I think) while building a group. That turned me off from WoW, and the last time I logged in was shortly before ARR launch. No qualms with the game itself but rather the way Blizzard just leaned into it all. I don't think SE will ever start adjusting their game for mods like Blizzard did, but some of these mods (even the less egregious ones) will trivialize the difficulty of many encounters. Imagine using this kind of stuff with content that isn't as difficult or precise as ultimates...

People taking their addon needs to this extreme are in my personal experience insanely entitled people who feel they are supposed to be the best but will not put in any work or effort to be the best. They should just BE the best by default and so they will use every tool they can to get what they think they are owed.

My raid leaders in WoW can confirm that my biggest absolute biggest gripe in WoW raiding, is the visual "mechanics" and DBM always dictating every single boss fight. And why Blizz just loves to use the shitty as "swirly" telegraph as a mechanic in every single boss fight, is something I'll never understand. I like to raid, I don't care what game it is. But WoW raiding is just horrendous compared to FFXIV raiding. WoW is all about seeing a random swirly, and doing whatever it is that DBM tells you to do. That's it. Do that, and boss dies. If WoW ever wants to have good raids again, they need to ditch DBM, but we all know that mods in WoW are a staple, and that will never ever happen.

90% of FF14's mechanic systems are "dont get hit". you don't dodge animations or boss mechanics. you dodge glowy effects on the ground. you could turn every boss into a giant moving hit box rectangle, and ignore it completely. long as you dodge the glowy rectangles on the ground.

for real, i main bard and like 75% of my buttons are just slapped on one macro XD my aoes and slapped on a macro, the only thing i really have to press are my Dots, pitch perfect, Apex arrow, and my songs

Its playing as much as i dont need to focus on random procs or what ability's are on cooldown so i can focus on the arena, with most bard ability's most are instant cast so you can put them all in a macro and they will fire off one after another with each press of the button, same with AOE ability's

I love when people freak out about party list buff/debuff timers being some massive advantage. Its almost as if they don't realize that information is available without mods, it just requires more effort (you'd have to manually cycle through each party member that you wanted to check the timer of). That information is also just readily available if you have voice communication.. or available to review later on if you recorded your gameplay (recording gameplay is one of the most overlooked whitelisted cheating methods available)

They could be wow players but, today, you won't find addons similar to this mini map on wow anymore, this function was banned from the addons in wod. You can look the world first jailer kill and won't find nothing similar to it. The addins tell when and what ability will happen for the player to react. Not defending wow's addon, just saying that it's not bad like this.

I would have a counter argument, Even though they removed that feature in wod, addons have progressed in other ways, and as a result, the devs now admit to designing the fights trying to intentionally fight addons, Which makes them harder, and makes addons near mandatory So id argue its worse

The cammy view, meh. XIV's limited camera sucks. The minimap is so utterly egregious that I won't even bother. And people complaining about UI mods while you can stand in Mor Dhona and watch hundreds of bots teleport through msq is laughable.

I don’t understand why a DPS has to be worried about other people’s buffs so much. I have my party bar tucked away small in the corner when I’m playing DPS because what other players are doing doesn’t concern me (I don’t play SMN or Rez Mage).

it's for min max-er. see raid buffs etc. in dsr there is also a debuff that you need to juggle and pass around.
