Hi, love your videos. Just bought the coleman saluspa today and love it so far. Do we leave it plugged in and on 24/7, so the heater is constantly on? Jets stay off ? Just trying to see if we are doing it right to maintain temperature. We live in Central Massachusetts so current temp is 36. Thanks so much.

So much we did not know! Just two of us now, our kids are grown and out in the world. We bought a portable hot tub. Just love it but could not figure out which chemicals to use. We've been using spa selections chlorine granulated, not so happy with it. So we will scrub her out and switch to bromine. Baking soda who knew. Thanks so much!

Did you buy the spa selections chemicals as a whole kit? I can’t find one like you used that comes all together or some of those products in general…

I buy all the chemicals individually. The one you need the most is the bromine tablets. The others ones, I have only purchased once and they last.

I would drain the water and give it a scrub, TBH. You can do a "shock" that kills bacteria, but sometimes you gotta just clean it.

If you ever want to do something a lot simpler since this is an outdoor hot tub you can simply use bleach. I've had inflatable hot tubs for 7 years now and honestly it's the ONLY chemical I need to add. Never have cloudy water and because liquid chlorine (bleach) is pH neutral you don't have to worry about it lowering your pH or eating up your alkalinity. In addition because the water in these tubs should be changed about once a month unless you have well water with metals or really hard water you won't need those other chemicals. I guess the only downside is you need to put it in about every other day unlike slow dissolving tablets but I'm generally in my tub at least 3 or 4 times a week so I just do it after I get out. I use about one gallon of bleach every 2 months so it's incredibly economical too. Maybe I'll make a video and put it on my pool channel. For years people used bleach, borax and baking soda in their swimming pools, we called it the BBB method and it works very well. Just a little background, I've owned an in-ground swimming pool repair business for over 35 years and have seen so many pool destroyed by low pH from trichlor tablets it's astounding.

How much BBB for a 2-4 person saluspa?
@robwasnj Жыл бұрын
@@KingsknightsAllday You need to use a pool calculator and test the water but for mine, which is 200 gallons the most I've ever put in is 3.5oz of 7.5% bleach and that's a super shock treatment. Daily or bi-daily doses are between 1 and 2 oz. I don't use borax and baking soda because with monthy water changes and good tap water the chemistry never needs those additions.
@KingsknightsAllday Жыл бұрын
@@robwasnj what if I’m using well water with metals?
@robwasnj Жыл бұрын
@@KingsknightsAllday I would take your water to a pool store that does free testing and see exactly what metals you have in there and treat appropriately. Copper, Ferric Iron and other metals are treated differently. If you're using that same water for your home this is something you should definitely be addressing. My point was you can use liquid bleach in place of tablets, leave out the alkalinity and pH chemicals but if you have a condition with metal in the water that's a separate issue as is overly hard water.

I have the same tub and im using 4 bromine tabs and the levels havent increased at all in 5 days. Am I missing something?
@GannonForPresident2 жыл бұрын
Are you twisting the "holder" to be more open? I think once you close it, it is in the "shut" position, and you need to twist it to open up more, to allow more water to go through the bromine.
@gaprofitt2 жыл бұрын
@@GannonForPresident Yes its fully open.
@GannonForPresident2 жыл бұрын
Is the water cycling through it? You have to make sure the "filter symbol" on the machine is red, so it is running water through the filter constantly. If that isn't it, your hot tub may be broken. I can't think of anything else that would cause it to not work like that.

You put 4 tabs in your thing at a time? Can you get in while it’s in there
@GannonForPresident2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I do that, and then set it to the lowest setting, it does get a little "bromine high", or a "lot of bromine", but it just makes my skin a little drier. Not sure if its good TBH. The first time I used it, I let it get where the Bromine was out, and got a bunch of bacteria in there or something that caused a bunch of bumps everywhere. So, I always "over correct" now. Which, again, is probably not good.

@@GannonForPresident Gee, That was original... FYI: I spoke with a gentleman who has owned a hot tub company for 56 years, he said DON'T ever put baking soda in your hot tub & NEVER use four bromine tablets @ a time (to where it puts it @ a high level). He said use one tablet per week set on medium flow. If you DON'T know what you're talking about you probably SHOULDN'T be posting videos telling people what to do with their hot tubs. And the sores you are talking about is called "Hot tub folliculitis" it is an infection of your skin/hair follicles caused by "Pseudomonas aeruginosa" a bacterial growth found in improperly balanced hot tubs.
