In my experience, it's that fear exactly that prevents you from being like that. The line is drawn when, and ONLY when your sense of self-worth is used as a weapon against other people. So long as you aren't putting other people down. It's so hard to even begin caring about yourself when you've lived your life being told, "If you don't hate your own guts, then you're a narcissist!" I get this feeling a lot but what helps is asking myself: What makes those pretentious, stuck-up, spoiled you-know-what's bad? It's how they treat and impact other people. It's the fact that they expect others to give more than they have for things they don't need or truly even want, and they cause harm as a result. Then I ask: What part of this money and time is yours? That's the limit of what you can use. What is the most that, if spent on caring for yourself, not harm or take from (meaning that they will lose something they truly need or desire) others? That's the limit of what you can spend. What is the most that someone else can spare without being harmed (even if it's inconvenient) that will help you get something you really need or want? That's the limit of what you can ask of others. What is the most you can do to keep yourself healthy, happy, and fulfilled, so you can better the lives of those you care for? That's what you can, and should, do. You can't fill someone else's cup if yours is empty, and being kind to yourself does not mean being cruel to others. If someone acts like you taking time for yourself is selfish and harmful, they likely are not used to you not making yourself constantly available for their every desire, which is not something that A N Y human being needs to do. They need to get used to it because you'll fall apart if they keep taking pieces from you anyway. It's your choice what to do with that money and time and good grace of others that you have because it has been earned. Fill your cup with it: it's yours.

I suppose this is where first, some shadow work could come into place, why you do look at people who take care of themselves in that way? Is it something from your youth? What is it that makes you feel that way. And then try and think if this way of feeling about it is still serving you, or is it more so harming you? And then afterwards it should really be about balancing. Because I do understand your experience, I in many ways also feel that if I do something in a big way it makes me a way I don’t want to be, so I try to keep it to the limit. But then this is about exploring this limit for yourself. You can treat yourself without projecting this too much on yourself, having genuine love for yourself would not make you this “pretentious person” that you’ve been feeling it would make you. All it would do is it would make you be happier with yourself. No need for it to relate to anybody around you. Unless you start projecting your need for love and feelings of being lovable on the people around you. “Look how beautiful I am, look how good I am at this.” which is also be okay! :)) All they need is love.

Oh my gosh Kloee, I chose pile 2. My decision is whether to move back to NZ (our home) or stay here in Australia. Home was option (a) and Aussie is option (b). When you said “(a) is the easier option for you to choose but leads to less desirable outcomes and in a worse off situation than when you started” and (b) is the harder option to choose but leads to great outcomes and opportunity for growth.” I felt that in my soul. It’s so painful living away from our home & family but Australia has so much more for us. Reality is that moving home we will definitely be in a worse off situation especially financially. I've never seen the cards for pile 3 before but every single one had me cracking up, such a spicy & silly deck. Super interesting to me, I was just looking deeper into/working on my Black Moon Lilith in 5H Sagittarius - which deals with being shamed for wanting to be explorative in sexuality, so to get this deck - without even knowing what I was getting into - & being slightly uncomfortable but also amused is definitely something I'm taking note of. I didn’t have another job lined up, and then two days after I quit I got a job offer. I feel so cared for by the universe, like it was there to catch me. I’m in the same situation and trying to decide what to do. Trying to grapple with the company I work for being a great company to work for, but necessarily being the right one for me :( I’ve made a lot of good connections at my job, but I honestly can’t see myself growing there. I’ve gone as far as trying to get friends and even strangers I’ve met on linkedin with good vibes in the company because I know it has a lot of perks and I keep hoping I’ll have something to show for all the time and investment I put in it, but I work in insurance and don’t believe in capitalized medicine lol so I feel at odds with my job everyday. Didn’t think I would find myself so involved with the clients when I started, but I cannot separate myself at all. I thought it would be fulfilling to work with the population, but because of all the bureaucracy and regulations and my role being pivotal but not involved enough in that side, I wind up legit miserable watching some of my coworkers fail an already broken system every day because of course there’s bad workers no matter where you go. Great perks, great support, great leadership… shitty system :( I don’t think I can live with that anymore. Sorry I wound up using your comment to vent. Just had this moment of clarity haha
