Nice video. Spot on. The Moffat interview extracts were really interesting. He clearly loves Dr Who and thinks the show creators should talk to the fans! The seems so sensible and yet is anathma to Chibnall and so many in TV and Hollywood generally. My only major gripe with Moffat is him choosing Chibnall.

Moffat couldn't know what Chibnall would be like, and he was really the only choice. Whithouse, Gatiss and Gaiman wouldn't have wanted to do it, and Dollard or Mathieson weren't experienced enough. After Broadchurch's success, Chibnall was really the only successor from the circle of writers who've worked on the show. It also shows that there's very very few candidates for the job since RTD is coming back.

Moffat was one of us. We were incredibly lucky to have him as showrunner. Just like George Lucas with Star Wars though, many people didn't appreciate Moffat until they saw how much worse Doctor Who is without him.

Moffat's always been my favourite show runner. Davies is overrated and I doubt he's going to save Doctor Who when he comes back.

Chinballs admitted _The Timeless Children_ is a fanfiction he wrote when he was a kid. Remember that next time you see that footage of him slagging off Pip and Jane Baker... he'd already written it when he was ridiculing _Terror of the Vervoids_ . I used to be skeptical of the Cartmel Masterplan and the Doctor being the Other, but now I'm totally on board with it.

Chris is part of the rising majority that no longer cares for alternative writing and or how fans interpret the psychology of the Doctor, much less how the Doctor is STILL a part of a species that has no individual destiny and must obey the strick laws of their planet which is stuck in a "ripple wave" of time-vortexes. I predict Chirs will forgo his happiness and outside logic to continuing to ruin Doctor Who and its daughter series. What Chris Chibnall stole... well, let's see. The Doctor was a Time Lord from Gallifrey who looked like a British man and traveled in a TARDIS. Had known enemies. Now Doctor is a being from another dimension and not Gallifrey, so not a Time Lord either. Not a male. Doesn't fight any known monsters till fan response forces it. Not kind. First episode doesn't even have TARDIS. They just stole the "Doctor" name and created a new soap around it.

I’m American and watching the special with my family had become a really nice tradition. I don’t hate everything Chibnall did with the show but this was a mistake. Hopefully RTD brings the Christmas specials back and takes the regular airdate back to Saturday.

With rtd2 bringing back Christmas specials Jodie is now the only doctor with out a Christmas special even Chris Eccleston got an episode set at Christmas with Charles Dickins. Chris Chibnall has excluded the 1st and so far only female doctor from this tradition for no reason at all

Considering how fresh and creative the concepts were in Season 11, the notion that he couldn't think of any Christmas story ideas is extremely believable. On that note, after losing it, I would've been happy with some kind of alternative. That is, a real one. Like, imagine a Halloween special that was both fun and scary - heck, if Chibs didn't want to put in the effort for that either, he could've just gotten a British horror writer like Clive Barker to do it. Would've certainly been better than Resolution!

It's only younger fans that like and want a Doctor Who Christmas Story every year and it must be about Christmas. I personally don't like Christmas and don't want the telly to be full of Christmas. The classic era of Doctor Who from 63 to 89 just didn't cover Christmas, thank God. I started watching Doctor Who when I was 8 years old when the brilliant Jon Pertwee began with the series in colour. People my age and I'm 62 now feel that the show isn't written for us but younger fans that moan all of the time. No more Christmas stories please.

@stanlandprod I remember being part of a Doctor Who Facebook page and this young guy got all upset that during the Chris Chibnal era there would be no Doctor Who stories involving Santa, Snowmen, Presents, Trees that attack people etc. Clearly, this young man was not born during the Classic Who. I always remember the new season starting either late December, early January and we would get a story with the Doctor battling monsters that had nothing to do with the C word. When Tom Baker first started his story involved the K1 Robot and helping Unit defeat it. No sign of Christmas. It was Russell T Davies that involved Christmas for David Tennants first story. Right up to Chibnal the younger fans were treated to a Christmas story. Chibnal then opted for a New Year's Day story. I thought that Eve of the Daleks was crap because everyone kept getting exterminated by the Daleks.

I liked the Christmas specials even though they’re a mixed bag some are good and some are terrible but they’re still better than the New Years specials those are boring and dull and not well written it’s the same thing over and over again and they always have Daleks in them and they’re overused and need a break and it made no sense to get rid of the Christmas specials for new year’s ones because people don’t watch New Years specials because they’re not home but they do watch the Christmas specials they’re at home and people like Christmas specials and they get high ratings

I generally agree with you but Twice upon a Time was good. Also Classic Dr Who never has a Christmas special. Some of Chibnall's stories were good. And the idea of a female Doctor is a good one. BUT the female Doctor he wrote was dreadful and assistants too and the casting of them was all wrong. I would have liked Phoebe Waller Bridge as the doctor and also for her to have input to the script. Her time has ruined it for any other female doctor. Ncuti Gatwa is dreadful too. He lacks dry wit and the almost autistic lack of interest in others emotions but great passion and conviction to do good using brains rather than brawn.

I thought the show went into a nose dive after "Cold War" and then Morfart (intentional misspelling) started the trend of naval gazing as he and later Chinbal (also an intentional misspelling) started to leave their finger prints all over the classic years. But the question was he pushed or did the BBC kick him out.
