Hello! Thank you for this video. I just wanted to ask if the requirements of the courses are all the same for every kinds of students? I’m an international student from Russia, and in my country we simply do not have any “advanced” or AP courses. Actually we can’t even choose which courses to take. They are all the same for everyone. However, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t challenge myself during the school time. So would it be a drawback if my application does not consist any intensive classes in it?

Nope, you can explain this in the Additional Information Section (and it won't count against you).

Really enjoy the quality content you're putting out year after year for high school seniors who need these uncommon, valuable pieces of advice! I have a quick question: Would taking AP Psychology instead of AP Physics C in my senior year affect how colleges view my rigor for an economics and computer science major, given I then wouldn't take a science class senior year but have completed four year-long science courses?
@Collegeessayguy2 ай бұрын
It will depend on the college, but generally speaking, one wouldn't necessarily be "better" than the other.

Thanks for the amazing video!! Is it still possible to apply to medical school for the 2024 session, or have admissions closed?
@Collegeessayguy3 ай бұрын
Depends on the schools you're considering! Check on their websites directly for the most accurate admission/application information.

With regard to rigor our school offers 27 APs. Was my student expected to take 6-7 APs a year for 4 years? AP is advanced placement and are college level courses. How can students be expected to perform at that level straight out of middle school?
@Collegeessayguy3 ай бұрын
No, that's not what is generally expected. Showing rigor also (in my opinion) requires the discipline and awareness of knowing which AP classes are the right ones to take based on your own skills/qualities/values/interests and academic availability/capacity. As with many things in the college application process, it's a fine balance!

@@Collegeessayguythanks! We love your videos. My student progressed through honors classes, into APs and dual enrollment so hopefully that shows growth if not absolute rigor. They’re not looking at highly rejective colleges but every school seems to mark rigor as very important in the CDS so it’s hard to know what is considered rigorous for schools with a 40-60% acceptance rate.

I’m planning to graduate 10th grade. What do you think I need to do to really show I’m ready for college rigor? Anything else I should do to secure my chances at the top universities as best I can?
