The reason ror the one extra frame of lag on pro is because it's charging while being wired. You can change it in the settings to remove the charging

And that's because it's how they learned how to play Smash. At least the first reasonable controller. Even though the Gamecube controller is objectively bad by today's standards, it was miles better then a N64 controller.

@andritos_hive i know but the problem is, that the "left right up down" pad is synced with the pad like the other controller, so you got taunt on these buttons and you got no tilt stick or smash stick.

I also prefer pro controller. Another great thing about pro controller vs gamecube is one additional button which can be pretty helpful

Wasnt alive when the gamecube came out but i got one for christmas a few years ago and it just works for smash, not many other games though himo, but for smash it just works so well

8-Bit Do pro controller is great. Had it for a year with heavy smash use and minimal issues. Feels as good as a pro, You can macro it for easy one button short hops or mash out of retarded buries. And works on your pc without any issue. Thoroughly recommend for someone who wants something more.

Personally, I prefer the joy cons. With a power-a comfort grip, it's quite comfortable for my smaller hands. Any I've used the same pair for Smash for years, and they haven't failed me. Definitely understand your gripes though.

I use the PowerA wireless gamecube controller, and it's nice. After like 3 years of use, I finally had to replace my original because the old one was having some drift issues that showed up within the last month of it's life

I have a variety of controllers. I have gamecube, NXYI Warrior, Guili Kong 2, Pro controller, PowerA pro, and JoyCons. All of which aren't too bad to use. The best way to play is gamecube. However, if you have bigger hands, I say use the warrior. It's 3rd party, but it is super quality. Make sure to wire it instead of using the wave bird feature. No input lag. I can go back in forth, but prefer gamecube just because it holds a special place in the heart of a simpler time and having friends over for smash all the time as a kid.

i was iffy about using joycons at first but being able to move my arms instead of holding in one position was a nice change. I still prefer the gamecube controller but the Joycons are nice in my opinion untill you get stick drift

So far I can’t recommend any controllers expect the game cube one all other controllers will drift and the 8bit do ultimately trigger broke because it’s a anolge triggers . Trying the King Kong right now just order it if that doesn’t work. And break I’m just doing to buy a pro controller with warranty and return it right before warranty is but pro controllers only last 3 years max before stick drift happens

This was a great detailed and well put together video! ⭐ My goto controller right now for Smash would have to be either the Easy SMX X10 controller or the Retro Fighters Duelist controller. I also like using an official GameCube controller but I'm trying to see which one I like the most. I like how the Duelist has a macro button for short hopping or smash attacking depending on what you have it set to. One time I tried using the N64 Arcade Shark controller in a video to play Smash Ultimate because it has an analog joystick. It is decent but not not the best for something like Smash though.

companies like 8bitdo and gulikit make good controllers the 8bitdo ultimate and gulikit zen pro/kingkong 2 are good options gulikit's controllers are cheaper and they use hall effect sticks.

The notched Shell for the pro controller isn't going to be calibrated that well for notches and I wouldn't recommend it. Theres also phob and progcc controllers that are basically drop in replacement boards with more functionality and customization.

I use the 8 Bit Do Ultimate wireless controller. With a mobile app, I can adjust rumble, stick sensitivity, shoulder button sensitivity, as well as changing the button mapping. The sticks are Hall effect so there’s no drift to worry about. I’m not a pro by any means but I do play Smash online quite a bit and while I lose a lot, I don’t think any of my losses have to do with my controller, lol.
