I’ve also used this technique on my scape. Bucket is just a delivery vessel that you can also use for applying the mortar if you prefer. For the part where you had rubble holding the two bigger pieces together, you want to have the mortar ready to go. Then, fill in the space with some of the rubble, use the mortar, and lay the other pieces of rubble on top. Finish it off with a bit more mortar to fill the gaps. This method creates a more natural-looking area and uses less mortar. I used my 300-gallon bucket with about 200 pounds of rock and one bucket. Hope this helps you along the way!
