This came in perfect timing, because I was just thinking about this (I've already thought it out, but it happened to come to mind again). There really is no right or wrong, just a sense of empathy we've developed through evolution to keep ourselves alive as a species. Good and bad are entirely subjective. A psychopath, for instance, wouldn't feel that anything that they do to someone else is good or bad. They have to learn what both of those mean to be able to function as a part of society. Really, nothing is good or bad. If you don't like the taste of a certain food, it stands out as unfamiliar or suspicious. If a massive asteroid suddenly struck our planet and destroyed it, the planet would be destroyed. No one would be left to question whether or not what happened was good or bad. When it comes to a peoples' behavior in a society, those with the strongest morals have a better time surviving and thriving, and those with weak morals tend to tear themselves apart. A lack of morality leads to individualism, and with that comes the fall of community, and the gradual fall of society.

Besides the fact that this is an incredibly well-done philosophical video on the basis that it allows for open-ended answers while also giving detailed yet effective examples of your own thoughts (something that isn't seen very much today with either ultimatums or repetition of the same points for the sake of more viewer engagement appearing in many videos of this same genre), you are genuinely one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen and your voice is so melodic and lovely. Sorry this is random, I just felt the need to express this. Have a lovely day :)

All of the above. Who you are alone, who you are in relation to another person, and who you are in a group are all accurate representations of your character. You're the exact same element responding to different stimuli. A good father can be a bad husband and a good daughter can be a bad friend.

father, husband, daughter, friend. All are relations. There is no self that is decoupled from relations.

In regards to the very last part, I’ve had this conversation with friends and have always struggled to understand why I’d be ‘more myself’ when I was alone as opposed to around others. I don’t rlly believe in a true core self so that certainly affects my thinking but I’ve never thought of myself as ‘truer’ when alone or around others so personally I’d be inclined to say that your actions in general whether in private or public hold equalish(??) weight but obviously it depends on the context and reasoning etc.

From the perspective of the broader society, solely your actions But before action comes thought, you need to go through a moral journey that many people don't even begin to experience So who knows, I think actions are a good enough metric because someone who is doing genuine good works on themselves

Well, this is an interesting question. I think, ultimately, that the choice you make whether you're alone or in a group setting both define you. And I think it varies from people to people massively as well. Some person are people pleasers while others are more independant. I think it comes down to how you've experienced life up until that point and how you've coped with it. Some people are ready to do anything to feel like they belong in a group, because they're cravig the social validation. Others are used to not having that validation and built themselves without it and no peer pressure will ever change their mind. While we do act differently in different settings, I don't think there's a big difference in how we act alone vs in a group. Generally, those things tend to be morally closer than you'd think, even though the end goal isn't always very apparent. Oh also: happy new year (yeah coming a bit late on that video).

you make me want to create my own channel and talk about this stuff lol. i believe that doing bad things doesn’t necessarily make you a bad person, and doing good things doesn’t necessarily make you a good person. as humans, we all do good and bad things, its what makes us human, anyone can do a good thing with bad intentions (such as giving to the homeless to make themselves look better), or do something bad with good intentions (such as saying the wrong thing or doing the wrong thing, mistakingly whilst trying to be helpful). everybody is different and we all have our own opinions and thought processes, and ideas of what is good and what is bad. i think what is most important is that YOU personally know if you are good or bad, and that you do your best to be better regardless. some good people may worry that they are bad, but hey guess what? bad people don’t want to get better, they are bad because they want to be.. because they enjoy being bad. good people do bad things sometimes, but what is important is that you notice, take it in, and learn from it. if you do a bad thing and feel guilt, that’s good. if you do a bad thing and don’t feel guilt, that’s bad. or even if you don’t feel guilty for the bad thing you did but you feel guilty that you don’t feel guilty (you get me?), i believe you are still good, and that you just have things to learn, and as long as you keep trying to be better and do less bad things, you are good. long story short: i believe you are a bad person when you do bad things without guilt or the intent of changing. and that you are a good person regardless of what you do, as long as you feel the guilt for the bad things and try to change. we are all just human beings, none of us are perfect and that’s okay :)

or like how if you do bad things in front of your friends to impress them, but dont actually want to do it.. i dont think that makes you a bad person, as long as you see that is wrong and didn’t want for it to happen.

In my opinion there's nothing that makes someone inherently bad or good, that's why you always look towards there actions and then towards the reason they did said actions. If the action done was bad (whether it's private or public) it depends on whether the person was knew how bad it was and whether they did it with no guilt or remorse because truly the worst kind of evil is that of a knowing man But that's my opinion

I think motivations behind our actions defines lot about a person. But also I think cause of our actions have a some whats saying, at least of we define people from outside. And why we do "good" or "bad" things is hard to define, or even what is morally bad or good. I like to say it dosent matter in the end of is really subjective. But I also think it makes ua feel good to do things that are "usefull, helpfull" and are for common good. Also I think Camus said something like (about suicide but i think is fitting here and also to absurd that she wrote about also): it dosent matter at yeh end in any absolute sense. You can do bad or good, only other choise has dignity.

I think when it comes down to if your a good person or a bad person, there is a difference between a good person and a nice person. Any good or a bad person can pretend to be nice. The only difference between a good person and a nice person is the reasons behind their actions. Typically bullies in schools project hate based on hate projected on them. Then subconsciously you project hate from their hate projected to you. Then it's an endless cycle until someone looks deep within themselves solves the root of the issue. So I personally it depends on the reasons behind the actions that makes someone a good person or a bad person. If you really want a mind bender on what a good person is you should play the Last of Us game. I don't believe that there is one shoe fits all with who you are or if your good or bad. Good people can do bad things for reasons they believe are good.

I guess both bad and good can co-exist with each other in an individual? maybe no one is inherently bad or good and there are other things that influence whether someone is good or bad. Environment, culture, personal preference. experiences, societies views, world view, books you read, people you hang out with irl, people you talk with online. I guess what I'm trying to say it is its not a 'constant' thing.

Hard to say, cause offcourse every different culture have different matters In moral and ethics, a simple example, it's a common tradition in Tibet kissing child's, but in the west that issue was not thinked so good, but offcourse we could do innumerable examples from different cultures in history and today, another one could be how Christianity is evolved through the eyes of classic cultures and not in his primordial one, or that still today this video maded by you could be thinked how ordinary stuff, but that could not be thinked so in Somalia etc etc etc.

Personally I think, that we all are capable of evil. By evil I mean different forms and depths of evil e.g. murder and manslaughter. They are both the same yet the intent differs, therefore the degree or depth of evil is different. So, what makes someone good or bad? It's the knowledge of self to be capable of evil, yet choosing to avoid bringing pain onto living beings as much as possible or trying to reduce the amount of pain someone needs to experience. I would define that as good. But then I ask myself, isn't there something good in evil too? What if someone needs to learn a lesson, but by removing the pain from someone (which is a good act, right?), they do not learn and keep on repeating doing the evil act.. What's good now? I like Pains philosophy in Naruto, for he argues, that goodness only comes from pain and suffering which people have to endure, because it grounds them in reality and automatically more good or the greater good is pursued.

A Great question? Because, as a believer is God and absolute Truth this is one of the question that gets brought up the most. I guess my answer is not "What" defines but "whomst" heh. If this world is one created by random coincidences with no authority guiding then it's all relative. However if this world does have an absolute authority; absolute in the sense that it has all the attributes of God: All knowing, all seeing, all powerful, all good. Then the next question is then what deeds do they deem as good and bad. Now you could say that all religions have a pursuit of Truth molded by culture or whatever factirs at the time ,so does that make them all equal? No. Of course I have to say my bias, I am a Christian. But the claims of Jesus the Christ, Son of the Eternal God were ultimately exclusive. "I am the way the TRUTH the LIFE. No one come to the FATHER excmept through ME." - John 14:6 TLDR; What defines good and bad? God.

about morality... nobody will admit wrong doing so you have to signal boost good morality, and some people get more dogmatic than others about that. especially when judging others, but nobody is a saint, humans are diverse, but we are all driven by self interest, and morality gets a little wobbly when it comes about us personally. so this might the boring answer but it's the only thing that comes to mind, the facade of decency is part of the game of manipulating outcomes, we already live in a dog eats dog world, but not everyone is fighting on the same level, if that makes sense. idk, when this topic is taken in media it's always taken as if all the people will behave in the most violent and animalistic way possible, in a very cartoonish way, but it's more like a ecosystem, some people prey emotionally, others economically, others are doing w4r crym3s right now. but they all have good reasons, trust. P.S: you should stop re-uploading videos lol
