Hi there, thanks for this video. I just wanted to check in about the Brother QL-800 and if that would work. It’s not currently on your list of supported devices but it’s the easiest one to find in South Africa so i thought I’d check. Thanks

There's an unsupported way to connect to a Brother QL-800, but it only works with Macs and Windows machines, not iOS or Android. Our support team can let you know the workaround if you'd like to contact them, but a supported printer from our list would be the recommended option!

Some of these printers have been discontinued. I can see the replacements on the manufacturer's website, but not sure if they will work with planning center/checkins. Is there an updated list of what printers work and which ones don't?

Hi Carrie, Are you using iPads by chance? Check-Ins for iOS and iPadOS supports printers from Brother and Citizen. We recommend the Brother 820NWBc model. This model is the easiest to set up and can be used with either a WiFi or Bluetooth connection. The 'c' indicates the latest version of this model. You can also still use 820NWB models. If you cannot find those models: -1110NWB or 1110NWBc, is a wider model and can do both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It requires a computer to set it up on your network settings. -810W or 810Wc work well, but are WiFi only and require a computer to set it up on your network settings. -710W and 720NW also work but are no longer supported by Brother, so I only recommend those if you already own or receive them for free. Our Android/iOS Check-Ins App will not work with Brother 800. You can read more about our supported Brother models in our Brother Printer help article. If you decide to go with a Citizen printer instead, you can read about those models in our Citizen Printer article: 1. pcocheck-ins.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017480534-Citizen-Printer?source=search&auth_token=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJhY2NvdW50X2lkIjo2Njg0MiwidXNlcl9pZCI6MTc2MjY5NzE0NjQ0NzUsInRpY2tldF9pZCI6MTA1OTI3MSwiY2hhbm5lbF9pZCI6NjMsInR5cGUiOiJTRUFSQ0giLCJleHAiOjE2OTM2MTEwMjJ9.x-d7HQjDheuJAUz4Tb_z994Efi3__OsDvk3TbUQ9z5c& 2. pcocheck-ins.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218659937-Brother-Printer?source=search&auth_token=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJhY2NvdW50X2lkIjo2Njg0MiwidXNlcl9pZCI6MTc2MjY5NzE0NjQ0NzUsInRpY2tldF9pZCI6MTA1OTI3MSwiY2hhbm5lbF9pZCI6NjMsInR5cGUiOiJTRUFSQ0giLCJleHAiOjE2OTM2MTEwMjJ9.x-d7HQjDheuJAUz4Tb_z994Efi3__OsDvk3TbUQ9z5c&

Can I use another label printer like a rollo printer or something like that for iOS or it has to be the ones specified on your website?
@planningcenter2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ricardo! While other printers are compatible with iOS, when using Check-Ins you'll want to use the printers referenced on our website or in our support guides. Here's a link to that guide if you need it again! pcocheck-ins.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042109393-Software-and-Hardware-for-Check-Ins

Do the Zebra printers work for Mac? I've never been able to get them to work
@planningcenter Жыл бұрын
Yes, Zebra printers can be set up on Mac desktop computers! Still, we recommend using Zebra printers with Windows OS. Zebra does not provide a driver for use on Linux/Unix or Mac OS X operating systems but instead suggests using the Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) driver. Because of the lack of a native driver, printing to Zebra from a Mac computer will not have the same clarity and sharpness you see with the other printer/OS combinations. Our Zebra Printer article lists all the compatible models: pulse.ly/rnqjxyuu0j

Why do the check in devices prints out multiple labels that we don't need. Only need one for the parent, 1 for the student and 1 for the volunteer. It prints 2 or 3 labels extra that we don't use.

This is a great question! This can happen for a couple of reasons, so it's best we take a closer look at your account. Let's partner together:pcocheck-ins.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?

Can any type of tablet work? Samsung Galaxy Tablet? What size memory storage is needed for Nursery only check-ins? Thanks.
@planningcenter9 ай бұрын
Great question! Here is what we usually recommend: If you're going with Android, opt for the newest, name-brand tablet your budget can accommodate. They last much longer than an older, cheaper model, and name brand tablets tend to have fewer issues with our printers. It'll be a little more upfront cost, but it'll save you a lot of time and money in the long run. Kindle Fires run Android apps even though they technically have a Fire OS. So, you can go that route, but you'll want to get the latest Fire HD and not an older model. iPads work well but can be pricey. Consider an iPad mini with lower storage and WiFi only to save money. You don't need the latest version of the iPad for it to work well; however, we recommend a version that can run the latest iOS. Hey there! Unfortunately, the Brother 820NWB is not in stock anymore. What other bluetooth/wi-fi label printer can you recommend at the similar price? Thanks in Advance!
@planningcenter2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremiah! Sorry to hear that. If that printer is on backorder and you're not able to wait, then the 810W works well! However, it's WiFi only and requires a computer to set it up on your network settings. We have more supported Brother printers listed in our support guide, here: pcocheck-ins.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218659937 If you have questions about specific printers or options, feel free to reach out directly to our Support Team by using the question mark or emailing us at support@planningcenter.com

Which printer do you recommend for a (amazon) Fire Tablet 7"?
@planningcenter2 жыл бұрын
Great question, Austin! We recommend the Brother 820NWB printers because they are quicker and easier to set up, and they have Bluetooth capabilities that you can fall back on if your network starts having issues. Kindle devices will work with Check-ins if that is all you have, but if you have the budget to upgrade, Samsung Galaxy tablets or iPads will be a bit more performant and will last longer than a Kindle device. You mentioned that brother runs $130 and it has Bluetooth also. Do you have the exact model?
@planningcenter2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! The printer used in the video is the Brother 820NWB (the “B” stands for Bluetooth). That’s still the one we recommend, though the pricing may not be the same as it once was. We have a list of all supported Brother Printer models in our support guide, here: pcocheck-ins.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218659937-Brother-Printer
