It's been brought to my attention that the man pictured next to Bruce Lee at 00:55-01:00 is actually Joseph Hayes and not Jesse Glover. Joseph Hayes is a TKD legend. He served as Captain of the USA team, which would take 2nd place during the first World TKD Championships held in Korea in 1973.

Next Tommy video Viking? Also, have you learnt anything new about Bruce or JKD or anything since you interviewed Tommy? Also, would love a new Stallone video soon, looks like he’s gearing up to make Expendables 4. I imagine filming will start either towards the end of the year or early 2022.Then maybe demolition man 2 will start mid 2022 or maybe that will be delayed for this supposed film called little America which sounds awesome. Not sure.

Can I be honest bout Mr. Carruthers? when I first saw the videos of his martial arts demonstration‘s or whatever, I was like “cool, I like this dude! He’s really dope!” I was even friends with him on Facebook at one point. I remember posting a couple of videos of #DonnieYen martial arts demonstrations on my page and tommy was just trashing the dude and I was really surprised Because I didn’t think he would be doing stuff like that you know just throwing other martial artists under the bus and so I was thinking.. “Man this guy has a massive massive ego and he’s kind of a dick!” …And that really disappointed me because I thought martial artists were supposed to respect each other‘s craft. Look, I don’t care what level of martial arts you have achieved or what style you’ve trained in there always has to be some form of respect in that field..Dude, Bottom line? While I respect the fact that he’s trained in #Jeetkundo Tommy just isn’t as humble as I thought he was.

To a man, Bruce Lee's students defined the Little Dragon as being a fanatic. His first girlfriend in Seattle called Bruce a "kinetic genius" and she stated that Lee was always in motion. Unfortunately, Bruce never found the peace of mind that Tommy is referring to in this interview and he remained fanatical to the very end. Prime examples are his experiences on the set of Enter The Dragon. Lee got in not one, but two no holds barred fights with extras/stuntmen on the set of the ETD which is almost unheard of on the set of a Hollywood movie. Bruce once commented to his wife that he found it impossible to "turn off the clock" on his obsessive/fanatical mindset.

Yes, there are some people in all artistic areas that can with rigourous experimental exploration figure things out for themselves even if they tend to be very rare exceptions....Guitarists like Hendrix or Van Halen never had a formal guitar lesson in their lives yet they could play the entire repertoire of all their influences & went on to sonic innovate and re-define the instrument in totally new ways....Same in Martial Art like JKD ...Self taught auto didactics are like this...Bruce DEFINITELY was one. They take the initiative because they have a combination of natural ability which is fully realized by a VISION which goes beyond ground already covered....Being 'fanatical' is the only way to REALLY take the limiters off the ceiling to be honest...But there IS a downside to it......In the words of Malmsteen - 'My life's been SACRIFICED'........Paganini also...Obsessive musicians for instance can see their pursuit of excellence rob them of EVERYTHING ELSE......With psychological ill health,,,,Isolation & other subtler wounds inflicted along the way....They ultimately can watch aghast as they see any chance of a fulfilling contented life slowly waste away before them and TURN TO ASHES IN THEIR HANDS.

Tommy Carruthers is always enjoyable to hear speak on the martial arts. He said one thing at the beginning here that many miss when trying to do JKD/Jun Fan like BL. He was told he had the speed and attributes of BL by Jesse Glover. That’s the missing ingredient. That’s why 99% can’t make the lead hand punch work, or intercept, or manage distance and time with that construct. Even when they train diligently they get better, they can fight, but never make it work as advertised. They don’t have the attributes.

Fun fact: Many of my friends thinks that, the English that we learned here in the school back in the days is useless. That they don't need it. Well, it will be funny to dissapoint them, but it's not useless. I’m surprised he didn’t point that out when he was complemented that he is faster then Bruce was. JKD has become just another word and another style. I’m also surprised that nobody has been more photographed then Bruce and yet he didn’t video tape his sparring matches with top fighters. It’s a shame after how hard and long he trained that the world will never see how good he really was. I think if we did see him in a real fight we would be shocked to see how incredible he was. Jesse Glover said that when he saw Tommy Carruthers he said that Tommy was the closest thing to Bruce Lee he had ever seen before. The thing with Donnie Yen and Tommy Carruther‘s fighting in a movie, Tommy Carruther‘s does Jeet Kune Do, and Donnie Yen does wing Chun. Also JKD uses submission wrestling, judo, Japanese jujitsu submissions as well as small joint finger locks. Therefore Tommy Caruthers being a ‘grandson’ student of Bruce Lee cannot lose to Ip Man because Wing Chun is an inferior martial arts, and Bruce Lee demonstrated that. That is the reason why he created Jeet Kune Do, and why he went and found the truth about martial arts and found kung fu or gung fu whatever you call it, and essentially his martial art was all encompassing. And that beats wing Chun and Ip Man, Donnie Yen. Therefore if Donnie ever wanted Tommy Caruthers to be in his film Tommy crafters has to win. Not only that Tommy Caruthers is the teacher of Jeet Kune Do practitioners, and it is not Donnie yen. There’s no reason for Tommy Caruthers to take you know a backseat or an L to Donnie Yen just because Donnie Yen is a actor. Yeah Tommy Carruthers is the real deal

Begs the quesiton. If one student of JKD thinks this way about JKD/Ted wong as a "teacher"....how many more share the same views?? And if so....why stick around ? Why spend years??? If all one picked up was to "chip away at what doesnt work...."??? Some how I'm not surprised to learn "...Ted Wong never fought....". It's not like that isnt common. For some that doesn't matter. Some just "study MA" for exercise. I mrean, really, that IS what MA really is. Or a sport. It would be naive to think otherwise IMHO...

I could understand what he was saying but at the same time I lost him. I've been in over 100+ street fights during the 80s, 90s, 00s, to now and I know what it feels like to rake the eyes for reals and what it does and to kick the balls and to break an arm and to choke someone out and I'll tell you that the true warrior goes beyond what they're learning in a school curriculum. I bought books and videos and replayed the fights in my mind and learned the correct movements from a hand to hand confrontation. I got into fights during a rougher time in a rough city I won't mention but it's been mentioned in movies and it's always to what it's known for and back in those days the kids growing up were naturally tough. It wasn't a martial arts flashy fight by any means but it was a fight that was martial if that makes sense. I know the deep feeling in thought during a real life or death situation and the concentration one needs to have during these kinds of incidents. Whoever reads this and you don't understand them, you never will and don't try to make up years because I started as soon as I got to 1st grade and by the time high school came, I was already known and I was one of the guys to beat and believe me there were many who wanted to be that one but found out differently. I wanted to do pro boxing and had this dream match with De La Hoya and I would daydream I'm getting beat up and I throw this spinning roundhouse kick and KO him but I get disqualified and the truth would be I lost a sport match but won a real one and this is why I never went into pro boxing or kickboxing or MMA. I'm not interested in sport fighting or fame or any of that and I'm confident to say had I gone down that road, I have no doubt I would've been a big name so all of these Gen Z weenies saying that crap if it doesn't work in a cage or ring then it's bullshit, I say that statement alone is BS and you dweebs saying this are the ones who've never had a taste of reality.
