What did Cassini-Huygens achieve before its Grand Finale?

Everything you could want to know about NASA's and ESA's Cassini Huygens spacecraft, shortly before it took the plunge during its Grand Finale. This is a recap of what it has achieved during its 20 year mission.
This is a reupload as the original video was blocked by PBS for a clip they did not own. The offending clip in question is the video from the perspective of Huygens as it passed through Titan's atmosphere. Even though I provided PBS evidence that the video belonged to NASA, even getting written confirmation from NASA that the clip is public domain and owned by them and not PBS, the claim was still upheld. Rather than risking legal action and a strike on my channel by appealing the decision, I have decided to modify the clip and reupload as I feel like it's a shame that this video has been blocked. I also feel like it's a shame that KZbin gives the "copyright holder" so much power and does not get involved in disputes. I can understand why it happens the way it does, but it's the creator that gets punished at the end of the day even if they are not in the wrong.
Before any Patreons get worried, I will obviously not be charging for this video :)
On a side note, my final major project is nearing completion! Expect to see it on the channel by mid May!

Inspiring! I didn’t realize Cassini used so many gravity assists. I guess the ESA probe exploring Titan is appropriately named Huygens after the Dutch astronomer who discovered the moon in 1655. Overall, this is another great video! Keep up the fantastic work!

I love your cool, interesting videos Alex of Astrum! There's nothing more fascinating than the ultimate size of our galaxy and the miraculous solar systems it provides. There is so much glory in the miracle of our lives here on this planet, in our modern day. To even be able to view videos as this is a very new occurrence for civilization. We are very lucky people to be alive on this planet. A planet that at this time, it's just the right distance and climate to able to produce an atmosphere for us to live, as well as food and water for us to survive with. Hooray for Earth in our so called year, 2018. Lol. It's very great to be alive. I wish everyone nothing but the best. I know that there are many many people on Earth who have or who are now suffering. My only hope is that life on planet Earth gets better for all as the unwavering, unceasing flow of time passes. Do your best. Always strive to improve. Set goals. Love life. Try your best to be healthy. Let's all wish, hope, and pray for the betterment of all Earth peoples in this glorious, miraculous floating circular rock out in outter space we live on. I don't want our civilizations and societies to lose its humanity. We must never forget to always keep our hearts and souls in the right place. We are so lucky to be alive in the first technological boom in our recollection.

Alex: I’m not sure if this is the forum to ask questions, but I will anyway.....will all the space junk around earth, eventually (in millions of years) , align with its rotational axis and form into rings?

+kanishq ruhil You kinda lost that opportunity when you decided to put Cassini in orbit of Saturn instead of slingshot past it. That shed of all the dV it achieved meant that on-board propulsion was only able to maneuver in Saturn's orbit. Also, I don't think we will be able to do a grand tour another 150 years. the planets are not aligned such that a probe could gravity assist it's way out to Uranus / Neptune.

At 0:35, the only thing I found to be unimpressive was the 599 GB of data. That's way less than what I thought it would be. If it said 599 TB, that would be impressive. But 599 GB? You could store all that data on a single hard drive.

How can a little probe contaminate a whole planet? They should have sent it to one the moons.
@robertsteffens1409
@robertsteffens1409 Жыл бұрын
We couldn't risk contamination of moons like Titan and Enceladus with potential microbes from earth. So we had to destroy the spacecraft completely to protect these pristine worlds for future exploration of potential microbial life and so the doubters can't say "oh that's just earth based life we brought with Cassini .
