You buy it from the government, and later on you basically redeem it for the value it holds later. The war bonds had lost a lot of value after the war, and so they were a loss, as you'd make a lot less redeeming it than you spent on it. Hamilton proposed buying them back at their full value rather than the lower price. Unfortunately somehow only the people closest to Hamilton heard this so they went out and bought them in bulk from poor farmers and soldiers who thought they were getting a good deal. Then they went back and redeemed the bonds themselves making a tidy profit, but screwing over the poor in the process. Madison felt Hamilton screwed over a lot of war vets like this

Well, lets see.... -He once broke his wrist trying to impress a girl -He had a very expensive bust of Alexander Hamilton in his house, because why not? -I'm 99% sure this is just a rumour but apparently Angelica Schuyler once bitch slapped him so hard he was afraid to go to social events if she might be there (the story more likely to be true is that they were really good friends) -He had a huge fear of public speaking and only made two speeches as president (his inauguration speeches) -This is more of a Washington one but Washington's doctor told him he needed to relax so he decided to take Hamilton and Jefferson on a fishing trip. Not my idea of relaxation but whatever floats (or possibly sinks) your boat.
