You can literally see the effect of having higher chase rarities in DUNE. The ultras are cheaper cause there are QC versions that the collectors are pulling for, giving them a different one to speculate over and incentivizing the opening of more boxes, adding even more of the lower rarity version into circulation.

I do agree with josh opinion on duelist nexus. I do think sets should be more focused on giving players fun cards to play but also have a good chance to pull them. Yhe previous sets keep making really good cards like magmamut really hard to pull due to short printing which is great for investors as they can open cases, but for casuals opwning packs or boxes its just not worth it ss your most likely not going to get a card you want to play. This hinders the growth of the game.

The thing with the Broccoli sleeves is that there are five different types of them: Clear, Clear/Matte, Matte/Matte, Embossed/Clear (= similar to Dragon Shield Outers, I've heard), Slim (similar to clear, but have a more snug fit apparently). Each is quite different, so you mileage might vary. The ones you showed are "clear" sleeves. I haven't tested them but there are videos with show them in comparison, and often the embossed sleeves are the favorites of the reviewers (which also explains why they are always sold out, e.g. on amazon jp). But if they are similar to the dragon shields, then I would just stick to those… saves the hassle for marginal gain (supposedly)

yanoman z sleeves are the best oversleeves for protecting sleeves, they are hard and give very little flex. they make yugi and standard size. had sets for years that are still holding up for regular use.

I alway buy kmc's when im in japan, theyre so cheap there and i use the kmc inners with kmc matte mini white for my deck and kmc outer card protectors for the extra deck. That replica magician and dragon set looks insane. And ocg cards are so cheap. Accesscode talker was 50p. Japanese people are so caring, great TTT story

Depends on the card. Japan is all about the waifu cringe stuff, but everything else is basically worthless. I recently bought a bunch of cards in Japan, and got all the 5D's dragons in Ghost Rare in mint condition for less than 200€ total (while stardust and black rose are 500€ on their own here), a bunch of other ghost rares for less than 10 bucks each, Kitkallos, Kaleido and Rulkallos starlight for 50€ each, starlight tour guide for 15.... On the other end, Starlight charmer are all 500-1k, same for the Evil twin links, the Sky striker links and Raye etc

Theyre not dragon shield. They're generic oversleeves called Broccoli Sleeve Protectors. I've been using them for years and they've gotten a bit harder to shuffle overtime. That's just the material. Certainly not like Dragon shield. But because I use waifu sleeves then they get the job done.

I mean from a consumer perspective though, you should have a chance of pulling cards that have a lot of value. This doesn't mean they are worth a lot necessarily. Remember. Consumption IS buying sealed product. Konami doesn't make the secondary market. A good set is one you get what you pay for. Either by how good the cards are or by the monetary value of them. Most of the battles of legends sets are great examples. Lots of good cards. Some worth money and a lot that are just good cards.

To be fair, the ultra was artificially inflated. It was $3, and went up to $12 literally overnight. I think vendors were trying to recoup costs, so they bought out the cheap copies and resold them at 4x price.

@@Mc_Beefcake I agree that the cards are good, but the increase does not seem natural. Like, I was making a spreadsheet for the card prices and like was a massive jump over 12 hours. Even cards that suddenly perform well at a YCS don't show such a massive jump in price over such a short time. As far as I know, there was nothing that would cause a sudden buyout of the card. There has not been a YCS where is has been legal, the price jump happened too quickly for it to be due to a ton of local deck profile wins. The pre-sales never got up this high so it's not just hype like we see with Crimson dragon and Rev synchron, which have stayed pretty stable. If you look at the sale history, you can see that the price jumped to ~$12-15 literally within a few hours--it's super unlikely that over the span of a few hours, so many people suddenly realized it was good, without noticing it during pre-sale. I mean, I'm speculating, but it looks super artificial.

You can always go the budget route. There’s plenty of decks that give you a gateway into the TCG, because reprints make them mostly cheap. Also, November is staple reprint central, so you can get the main cards you need there.
