Not all of the religious scriptures are absolutely sensible with modern times. The good part in all religions except Islam is that most followers of these religions don't follow everything blindly, rather they use common sense. When it comes to Islam I guess using common sense and logic are forbidden, you have to follow or accept everything blindly however ridiculous it might be. If you question anything then it means you are putting your life at risk.
