Ooh, i'm so excited to see this serie/project ! The design is really cool and so is the video about your research :D (And no roasting will be done, especially since your pronunciation of Jules' name is completely fine, even for my french ears)

I think I read that one way to get hold of academic papers for free is to just ask the author for a copy. Academic journals at this point charging money to access is fundamentally ridiculous. The entire payment structure is built for academic libraries (which one can pay to join I believe). Anyhow, acrobats are great and all but have you seen the Victorian strongwomen 😍
@sadiebelcreations2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've heard that too. Unfortunately the journals I was looking at didn't give you a list of what articles were in each one so I didn't know if anyone had written anything and if so who to contact ... Never mind! We do our best with what we have! 😄 Yesssss I came across several in my research and they're just fab 👌

This sounds like a great project and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I did similar research last year for a novel I was writing, only about the women doing tricks on horseback. Luckily I didn't have to reproduce anything so I could get away with just the posters. And your French pronunciation is pretty good!

What an enjoyable video! I can't wait to see how this project turns out, all of those costumes were so cool. Thanks for the history lesson on the origins of the word Leotard. As someone who grew up taking ballet and dance that was a fun bit of trivia! Regarding the footwear, it looks like most of the people in the photos are wearing leather or satin ballet slippers (not pointe shoes) with satin ribbons, or a very soft leather mid calf boot that has a very soft sole similar to a ballet slipper. Not sure how you would go about making or getting your hands on some of those boots (maybe consult Nicole Rudolph), but you could definitely get some leather ballet slippers from your local dance store (or second hand marketplace) and dye them with leather dye to suite your final outfit. Happy Crafting!

Thank you so much! It may be a bit of a wait - life sort of got on top of me right after I made this video! But it will eventually happen 🥰 Ooo thanks for the expertise! I'll definitely look into those sorts of ballet slippers when the time comes!

@@sadiebelcreations No worries! Life does like to get in the way some times. I also enjoy your other videos as well. I hope you don't feel you have to rush the project any. I think most of us here are just happy you are taking us along for the ride. Best of luck with everything life is throwing your way right now.

Well as I’m the worsted at research and pronunciation I won’t be roasting you!!! Looks like you did an amazing job from my point of view!!! If the research is really really something I need info on I usually break down and ask one of my kids. Which they will usually do after lecturing me about key words searching. This lecture is very annoying obviously I was trying key words but google hates me! Glad you were able to find help with your research!!

@@sadiebelcreations Ha! Also, your determination with the research paid off. The key is finding the one resource that opens up the rabbit hole for you. If I'm totally honest, probably not for the foreseeable future. Lots of stuff in my life has been changing lately so I sort of lost momentum with a lot of my planned projects, but maybe one day when things are a bit more stable ☺️

Look at lyrical sandals for your footwear, they are for modern dance. I have no ridicule regarding French pronunciation, I guarantee mine would be worse.

This is a really fun project! I look forward to seeing your progress. I also do aerial arts and make costumes, though I'm just starting to look into historical costuming. I am especially curious to hear how the corset works out for you. I'm inclined to think that they would not have worn them, personally, just because I don't imagine it being worth the materials costs and construction efforts to wear them so roughly. Plus I find I need all my spinal and abdominal range of motion for acrobatics. But I am not very well versed in the options for sport corseting.
@kingcat12032 жыл бұрын
Just did some light research and it looks like contortionists didn't wear them, but a lot of other performers did, which makes sense to me. If you can be generally upright/straight-torsoed in the act then they would feel supportive, like a belt in powerlifting. But some artists did not wear them, and it seems that none laced tightly. It came down to personal preference, I suppose.
@sadiebelcreations2 жыл бұрын
@@kingcat1203 That makes a lot of sense! My hypothesis is that the corset will make certain strength based moves - particularly ones that use abs - a bit easier, because you have something supporting the muscles and keeping you in that flat back position, but more flexibility based moves will likely be more difficult ... We shall see! Thank you for your comment 😄❤️
