We're back with Episode 26 of Neon Genesis Evangelion! THE FINAL EPISODE! Thank you so much for watching all the way until the end!
In this episode, Shinji tries to figure himself out (again) and that's pretty much it. We're in Shinji Ikari's head the entire time. Does he get it together? It's an odd ending for sure, but that only means one thing...the End Of Evangelion is coming!
Also, we get Shinji's alternate reality and one of us absolutely loves it!

It's a classic but got a bad reputation in the US because of some cultural reasons. It's huge in Europe and in Japan. I saw it on TV in 1996 and it became my favorite anime ever since then.

This series for me was never about the Eva's or the other gory stuff but the full circle of development of Shinji and the other characters in it, why people are the way they are. Shinji breaking through was the best ending I could of wished for.

that was not due budget problems , there was no ending at all they knew how it would end form the beginning that what the said about the series

They ran out of time, not money. They had to scrap an episode late into production because of a terrorist attack, as well as Anno’s habit of rewriting episodes until the last second

Watching Eva is like trying a new food. The first time you're like "hm, i think this is aight." And the second time you're like "damn this shit is GOOD." End of Evangelion is a traditional ending, so you have to watch it next or else it's like skipping the series finale. I think Netflix posted up Death/Rebirth, which was made non-canon and redundant by End of Evangelion, so those are skippable. Glad I caught you boys a few episodes back; this is a genuinely funny commentary channel. Congratulations!

I believe this was the congratulations ending for as you saw them clapping congratulating shinji for finally being happy. And the other one, well it continues with the third impact showing the end and the death of misato and the others

The congratulations episode was of two reasons. Mostly it was they ran out of money to properly finish it. The other was hidyeki anno wanted a fucked up sad ending but the producers wanted a happy ending. So anno finally relented but the episode was so hated they agreed to the movie ending which was about as close to what anno wanted.

zygas25 no is because they had planned the movie already and episodes 25 and 26 are happening at the same time than the end of evangelion episode 25 is what is happening inside the minds of the protagonists during most of the movie and 26 is basically the same but during human instrumentality give it a try and watch them with that in mind

Episode 25 and 26 are happening at the same time of the end of evangelion episode 25 deals with the minds of the protagonists for most of the movie and episode 26 is the same but during human instrumentality so to truly understand the end you have to watch both with that in mind

I would recommend you to try the Rebuild of Evangelion... except I won't xD. Instead, directly after Eva the studio made a awesome Romantic comedy anime called KareKano, or "His and Her Circumstances" that can be resumed in "what about trying evangelion's directing style on a romantic comedy of highschool kids?" "... ... ... ... ... OOOH SHIT let's do this!"

Congratulations!! Haha, stoked to see you guys react to End of Evangelion soon. Also, just want to say that I went back to the original English dub this week and had a listen. I had gotten so used to the Netflix version with you guys, that the original dub sounded way too over-the-top and cartoony, definitely a lot of the voice actors weren't taking it seriously early on. Actually think the Netflix dub is much more accurate to the Japanese voices, and better acting for the most part... although I still don't like the "Long-INUS" pronunciation. Oh well, I'll stick to the Japanese version. Prepare your minds for the insanity that is End of Evangelion!!

Congratulations!! We can’t wait to watch it. Unfortunately a lot of early 2000s things don’t age well. Especially anime dubs. I looked at some old clips and there are some voices and suggestions I love from ADV and some I enjoy better in the Netflix version. Like I love Misato’s raspier ADV voice but I feel the Netflix children voices sound younger and more like kids. To each their own haha but that can also be solved by just watching the Japanese / subbed version
