So Asuka’s mother’s soul was transported to Eva 2 so her body was just a shell. That’s why she was so broken and couldn’t even recognize Asuka. At this scene Asuka noticed her mother was in Eva 2 all along.

I know the new dub is what's more easily available now, but I miss the old dub. "I'm the lowest of the low" doesn't quite hit as hard as "I'm so fucked up". I miss when Evangelion said "Fuck".

Spencer did a good job. But this version is credited for NOT including any unnecessary sound fx like the previous dub. Plus it's somewhat consistent seeing as only five (six counting Amanda's husband) actors returned from the tv series in the previous.

Honestly, more than Spike Spencer, I miss Allison Keith’s performance as Misato. Especially in End of Evangelion. Strange translation and audio choices aside, Misato’s speech to Shinji before kissing him and dying is one of my favorite moments and performances in any dubbed anime. The new version just doesn’t sound right to my ears, but at least I managed to get the old version on DVD.

@@mrbanks456 ADVFilms' business went under for awhile, something about stretching themselves too thin what with the idea of a live-action Evangelion that never got off the ground, and a lawsuit with WETA that was even more confusing; but after all that and some major restructuring, they returned to releasing anime (first sub only, then back into dubbing) and renamed themselves to what we now call Sentai Entertainment. So it was kinda like how Pioneer became Geneon without the failure.
