One little tiny mistake in this video, Ansurek didnt kill her mother, she survived the stabbing and got "ascended" into a abomination If you play the story there is a part where you have to kill her mother in her ascended form and you end up sparing her life and the good nerubians take care of her afterwards! Ansureth still lives!

Even with Alleria's 'obvious' died twice statement, I still wonder about it being Azshara being the 'on her third death' especially with the dagger still in play somewhere.

because of some of the parallels i've drawn between Azshara and the Celestial Goddess, I tend to agree. Out in Uldum if you go looking at the four figures out there, the ONE "humanoid" figure without a mask on looks EXACTLY like Azshara and in her place at the temple, she has a celestial, purple/pink void image behind her.

The only thing that troubled me is where is the blade of dark empire. Knowing that it is so strong and that it capture the essense of a being like xalatath, it couldn't just disappear especially when N'zoth could easily take it hide it. I believe that the artifact is still around there and maybe N'zoth is trying to use the same trick as Xalatath.

@@gman5052 or maybe it was all a trick to begin with and there was no bargain between xal and nzoth because they were just performing for us. Nzoth still in the dagger and Xal might get him out. Seems simple and boring, but if done well it could be fun. We need a bit of old gods before the actual cosmic void shows up.

I now believe xal'atath is the prime Naaru of truth. The only naaru unable to be ordered. Explains why she see naaru’s as lost brethren and why alle who don’t what the truth to come out fears her like the titans.

What's the relevance to the mysterious shadow elf npc in Timewalking pandaria, classic WotLK, and Season of Discovery? I'm not sure if it was confirmed to be Xal but I can't imagine anyone else it would be.

They are doing what they always do, put a character on ice and then pull a Zovaal, and have them become the master plan of everything for an expansion. Those six year were merely a setback.

BTW, if you want to play through the story capmaign as a Priest, go with a 1H/OH weapon combo and transmog it to your Xal'atath artifact. Trust me.

You're correct! Then to stabilize the wound caused by Sargaras' sword, most of the daggers energy was spent to the point it had become weakened as both a weapon and a container. She claims she was discarded by a priest after she had lost her use to them, and had found her way into the hands of the tortolan, where she "reunites" with the priest player, or simply knows the hero of azeroth and explains her sob story.

In WoW, every villain is the hero of their own story, and every hero is the villain of someone else's story. Blizzard has taken great pains to remove any cosmological source of objective morality. Therefore, it's all about who you root for. Go Xal'atath!

I Have a question, how does Sylvannas fit into all of this? I know she is in the maw atoning for her transgressions, but I keep circling back to a short story involving the Windrunner's reunion where the void was screaming at Alerria to end Sylvannas due to the threat that she poses to the voids plans. I have a feeling that even though she was aligned with the jailer, the fear goes beyond that? Your thoughts on that?

Xalatath, as a character, breaks a cardinal rule of cosmic/lovecraftian horror: Cosmic villains should feel totally alien and unknowable and evoke the “utter smallness” of humanity juxtaposed against the infinite cosmos. Xalatath is a very humanized character with very human ambitions, thoughts, appearance and personality. Just saying she’s cosmic isn’t enough, SHOW don’t TELL.

@@MrGrugsy I agree, things could always play out well, but blizzard’s track record with storytelling of the past decade would suggest that being a very small chance they’d pull anything off, but not impossible. I understand what you mean by rules are antithetical to fantasy and agree, but I think what I mean by rule is core function or the very essence of a cosmic entity. “Cosmic” - distinct from the earth. Cosmic entities feeling alien and unknowable is analogous to saying a dragon should have wings. Are there some compelling situations where dragons don’t have wings? Maybe but it’s probably just a lizard at that point.

I'm thankful Danuser and his crop of horrible writers are gone, but my worry is that if TWW doesn't perform as well as expected, or it winds up dribbling off like WoD did, Metzen's going to get blamed for it (even though it's not really his fault; by all accounts, TWW was already mostly finished by the time he came on, he just rearranged things to better suit his vision) and wind up leaving again.

@@Maria_Erias I think whatever would have flopped TWW got sorted. Metzen did say that they had to retool things because he came in halfway through production. I'm sure that nothing horrendous will happen. It's a shame that already Midnight is the far more exciting proposition, but TWW seems pretty decent so far, and should only improve.

@@hobosnake1 Hopefully. But WoD started out strong, too. The story in TWW, no matter how good, is absurdly short, so if the team doesn't actually keep up a good story pace (by putting most of the effort into Midnight and The Last Titan, for instance - just like assets were shifted in WoD towards Legion) I think TWW is going to suffer. The devs have promised a strong story and content cadence, but, well... we've all seen the results of Blizzard promises before. So we'll just have to wait and see.

The Incarnates may not have been entirely wrong. Whatever Azeroth is, everyone wants it for themselves. It's like one big game of thrones. We've seen the dark and rather forceful nature of the Naaru, and the Titans may not be much different. Look at Algalon, and recently the gigangic ocean robot designed to detect the Earthen freeing themselves. Titans populated Azeroth with their creations, enslaved what they couldn't control, implanted their devices inside her, and introduced systems that would re-originate the life if something tried to break free of their control. They may not be as "unfriendly" to life as the Legion or Old Gods, but just like them, they have their own goals. And we know how their systems will react if we're no longer needed. But in the end, wanting for Azeroth to be free got the Incarnates, just like us, to become pawns in a game between Void and Order (... and the other four.)
