NASCAR does have some of the same flags but they do mean different things. Green, checkered, red flags are the same. Yellow and red striped is actually used here for the same purpose as in F1, but only on road courses. NASCAR yellow flag = F1 Yellow + SC NASCAR black flag = F1 Half-half black and white (penalty) NASCAR blue flag = F1 single yellow (local yellow, minus the no passing - only on road courses) NASCAR blue flag w/ yellow diagonal stripe = F1 blue flag (except in NASCAR, not mandatory to let yourself be lapped) NASCAR black flag with white X = F1 black flag (DQ, except in NASCAR they stop counting your laps till you serve the penalty as opposed to outright DQing you) NASCAR white flag - no F1 equivalent, means final lap of the race NASCAR green-checkered flag - no F1 equivalent, introduced this year as part of the stage racing crap NASCAR black and red waved simultaneously - no F1 equivalent, end of practice session

Vettel has no problem saying "blue flag, bluee flag" to other drivers but seems to have trouble following his own advice. In Bahrain 2021 both Verstappen and Hamilton lost in excess of 2 seconds while lapping him. That could have had an impact on the result of the race itself.
