Hallo, Cari. I have a question. In general, how do everyday Germans feel about others learning Deutsch. Do they tend to switch to English (assuming the learner is an English speaker) or will they be patient?Vielen Dank!

+mediacenter pc Having a german girlfriend and a lot of german friends, I can tell you the most of them are not patient enough while you try to speak German, and forget about when they come to your country trying to learn your language (mine is spanish) they will want to speak spanish all the time and not german, even if you tell them you would like to speak in german (that´s my experience)
@sigurandros
@sigurandros 8 жыл бұрын
+mediacenter pc and the reason they´re not patient enough is that they speak too fucking fast, and when you don´t understand what they say twice, the third time they will either almost yell or repeat it super slow like you were a baby (almost mocking) (again my experience but those guys are friends but sometimes they´re dicks)

Thanks for this video! I was wondering myself, and I am glad for the maturity that people showed in their answers... Truth is that political themes can get controversial, but I personally would like to see them, because they give a different insight and lots of new material to learn! Plus, politics are a burning matter always. But as they say 'be careful what you wish for' and so I just hope the videos/responses dont get offensive..The line is thin :)

I live in USA and found contradictory some of the replies to this question. In another video about who pays the bill at the restaurant on a date, I saw a lot of people indicating the one who makes more money should be in charge of the bill. This is somehow the opposite to some of the answers here relative to the refugees. I clarified that I live in USA because the concept of paying the bill because you make more money is not so popular, generally the bill is split.

I think it's good to do some videos on politics, for more advanced learners. I've been learning german for a couple of weeks so I didn't understand much, (still got a few new words from it) but I'd like to see videos on this topic in spanish, for example. But obviously everyday stuff is good as well, you need a bit of both, so maybe a video about best/worst dates?

Hello people, I'm a big Easy German fan. I have a question: There is a joke made famous by John Cleese in Faulty Towers: "Don't mention the war!". How does one go about talking to German people about the war? Is it taboo? It's very interesting for those of us coming from English speaking countries (I'm Australian) living in Germany (I live in Hamburg) to hear the opinions and thoughts of everyday Germans about these things. I recently wrote a song called "The German Backpacker Blues" after a conversation with a friend about her backpacking days and how everyone always talked to her about World War II, because that is all they knew about Germany! Not sure whether to release the song or not! A penny for your thoughts??

Well, Germans should have known better back in those days in order to avoid careless attempts (sic). What were they actually Nazi-thinking?...that they could long go on enforcing their "iron" law over the world in an era when global destruction can forecome with a click of a button? ...And suddenly now they are insulted by everyone world-around calling them Nazis or talking about them only in terms of a war (actually two) - their only contribution to societies over the last 100 years - and I should feel sorry for them? Nonetheless, go on dude and release that song. An inspiration that came out of real life events should be monitored off by political afterthoughts whatsoever.

+Abdallah Mortada Try to watch German KZbin videos with subtitles as much as you can. Don't change the speed and just listen, don't get angry or disappointed if you do not understand anything at first. Connected speech is hard at the first time to understand, but try to discover when words end in those videos and try to understand through context, not by understanding of every single word. I give you an example for this (the first to sentences from me in this comment): "Try watch German KZbin videos subtitles much you can. Not change speed.. listen, not angry disappointed if not understand." Do it step by step and have fun. :-)

I like the political dialogue and would like to see/hear more. I know this is an older video. Your acting and production skills have improved a great deal. With these kind of topics, you have to get the selection of respondents correct for it to be credible. In another video, you asked about relations with Turks. Janusz presented the question to Turks and your Turk guests asked non-Turk Germans. The non-verbal responses were more telling than the verbal. In this video, you're asking the question around a University. Answers from professors or students are predictable and, from the standpoint of learning the language associated with today's sentiment, worthless. Here's a question: Will history repeat itself in Europe? Keep the question intentionally non-specific. What is in the interviewee's mind? Renaissance of the arts? Conflict and chaos? A new, united Europe forges a new kind of history? Janusz, you are the perfect interviewer for this.

if you still need an answer: Austria and switzerland(swaziland is a small country surrounded by south africa) are little bit patriotic and so they dont like it they dont have their own language. But you can speak standard german in both countrys even with my german dialect from north-rhein-westphalia, they could understand me. Only in switzerland its a little bit difficult cause you will have an american accent and their dialect is very different compare to german language and even to german with american accent(some parts of switzerland are french or italian in the south). They just dont like that they always have to say "i speak german" cause the situation with the people is a little bit complicated between our countrys(Hassliebe) 😉

@EasyGerman
@EasyGerman 8 жыл бұрын
+Hsun Sheng - Ja, sehr viele!

Do a lot of people smoke in Germany? I ask because it seems like every episode there are at least few people smoking. I think it might just be because a lot of the people you see outside are smokers on there smoking breaks, but obviously I'm not sure if thats the case. I'm quite curious about this and I appreciate any and all answers. Thanks!
@momsonthenet394

More so than in the US, which can probably be said for most of Europe. You can still smoke in most bars and clubs in Berlin, and many people smoke while sitting outside at cafes regardless of whether or not there are other people eating around them. Cigarette packages do have nasty images and warnings on them in Germany, unlike the US (though I think that's changing).

I had a friend from LA here in Germany and he noticed that there are many smokers but also that we still have a huge amount of advertisement for cigarettes. I would say a lot of people smoke in Germany, but for example even more people in France. I don't know if it is a cultural thing but I mean, we have huge warning lables and horrible pictures on the packages, so people know the dangers. They just don't give a fuck.

Tolles Video, gut gemacht Car.

+Easy German Nicht unbedingt.

there is no union in the EU, a union is when everybody is equal, as things stand at the moment some states are more equal than others in the EU, some are rich and powerful and others are dirt poor and have been practically turned into economic colonies of the former. The poor states have to conform to most absurd limitations and regulations, but there's no one in the Union to fight for equal pay across the continent. I don't think the Germans realise just how much the standard of living differs in the individual memberstates. The Germans have no right to demand the equal sharing of their problems when they aren't so insistent on equal sharing of power and wealth in Europe.

The European Union is a dream come true for many Europeans. Remember when you had to go to another country just on vacation?? It was a nightmare! Passports, exchange currency, etc. etc. The euro was developed to bring countries together economically and socially, just like the USA, however it's a little bit different because every country has it's own president and sovereignty and that's fine as it is. Even though we need a little more Uniformity - the same work hours, same salaries, same rights, etc. Also people need to realize that due to globalization we need to compete with economies like USA and China and I fear that won't be a pretty and easy process... As for blaming Germany for the EU problems... I think it was done by dumb stereotypical people, because they don't know how economics work and they are tired of being asked for more and more work while politicians, bankers and alike get all the money. There's a lot of national corruption in states... Anyway I'm glad Germans didn't take it personally and got over it and I'm always trying to inform people what's really going on. A lot of misconceptions and lies were used to cover the truths during the crisis and there's a lot of work to be done there too. Love from Portugal to Germany

Those who stay behind and fight, suffer, work to keep a wounded country going till it can heal and (we hope) prosper again should get all the land and wealth. Those men 18-38 who flee rather than fight had better not return and try to tell the others how to manage their affairs. Video of crowds and crowds of youngish men moving out? huh? Do what you must do, but cover your face and head when the camera sweeps past. Do you want your son to see you fleeing?

EU is an acronym, like USA or PC or WHO... and the fact that the U is written as a capital, shows that you have to spell every single letter... Nato, Aids, Unicef, Laser, Radar, Adidas, Haribo are also acronyms, but usually they are written like words, that’s why you spell them like words.
