ì interested in your red sun shade for v the trailer, what it is made of and how its rigged up. couldn't find the video you mentioned you showed it in
@GoingNoWhereFast3 жыл бұрын
It is literally just a large piece of cloth that I folded over and lay over the bubble window to keep the majority of sun and heat out of the trailer. You can use anything, Cloth, Cardboard, space blanket. But it should be on the outside, not the inside.

Awesome and entertaining video. A couple of comments: I'm fortunate that my Aliner has a front porch storage deck. I'm not sure I could live without that. I put all my wheel chocks and leveling boards in a tall recycling bin on the front porch, as well as my cooler and another storage container with lid that carries my kitchen stuff. Since I mostly cook outside it's handy there. In the front door-side storage I keep an old Pepsi crate with all my shoes.

+Sandi Childs Nice, Just make sure you don't overload the tongue weight for your tow vehicle or overload the trailers gross weight ! Just my personal opinion, but I think these trailers are very low on overall gross weight ! They should put a higher rated axle on them to allow a better carry capacity. (I changed mine out )

Going NoWhereFast I had asked you a while back where you were from?You responded Syracuse.since then I've been exploring and camping whenever I can.Now I have another question for you.Can you recommend a free site that has fishing access in upstate NY?
@GoingNoWhereFast7 жыл бұрын
What kind of Fishing?? Lake or Stream. My latest Video is in the ADK with a great Lake for fishing. One of my earliest Videos in the Salmon River Reservior, thats great too. My Bowman Lake video has a free campsite on it with a nice little pond with great fishing. I have lots of them... Even Hunts pond I just did a few weeks ago is near Cooperstown and is good fishing.

What's that doohickey that's holding your flaps up on the cargo sections please? I had to put Velcro on the metal handle and the side of the trailer to hold mine up.
@GoingNoWhereFast4 жыл бұрын
Its an Old Style Latch to hold open the door. You can get them on Amazon or at Camping World. The Better solution is to glue magnets on the door and the body of the camper. I installed my latches before I considered magnets. Either solution, you just Hot melt glue them to the side of the Camper.

Richard,I prefer lake fishing to streams and I live in Cairo in Greene county.I have a small Jayco tt that I pull with a Ford F-150.I usually fill my water tank before I leave and I'm on a fixed income (retired with no pension) so dry camping is much more preferable to me.Your dogs are beautiful (I have a rottweiler) so most of the time it's just me and my dog.You mentioned several places in your post yesterday but wondering if somewhere stuck out as a super place to camp as well as fish.thanks a lot for your quick response to my question :-)
@GoingNoWhereFast7 жыл бұрын
I hate to say it, but I worked for the NYS Bureau of Fisheries for 5 years out of college. Caught and handled more fish than most people do in a life time. Unfortunately I don't fish any longer. Got spoiled with the best fishing equipment given to us by LLBean and Orvis. Lost it all over the years or gave it away. So I have no personal knowledge of the best fishing. That Hunts pond looks pretty nice and the people who were camped there said it was good perch, crappie fishing. There are some pike / muskies in there according to DEC. There should be Bass also, but no one would confirm that. The Pond Near Bowman Lake is reported to have Bullheads and Catfish. A few Smallmouths. If you have a boat, I'm sure you could find a few fish in any of these places.

Those compartments held a lot of stuff, especially that rear one with those big items.
@GoingNoWhereFast7 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. And if your not careful, you can overload it with stuff that will put a lot of strain on the frame when you go over bumps.
@gundog43149 жыл бұрын
I believe you have a pretty cool channel going on here. I really like the low profile of the Aliner & other similar types. Would be neat to get a custom one built. Cheers
@GoingNoWhereFast9 жыл бұрын
+gundog4314 ---> There are some pretty cool ones that are customized for High ground clearance and off road use, and some for hunting, others for full timing. They lend themselves to a lot of possibilities. Thanks for Watching !

My Casita trailer is lightweight and holds a lot, but my tow vehicle gets a lot of stuff that I don't want to cram into the trailer. A-liners are good for storing in a garage if you have the space (and out of the weather). Gotta be organized w/ these small campers.
@GoingNoWhereFast6 жыл бұрын
Either way you do it, don't over load them. The gross vehicle weight has a lot to do with stopping and shocks, and the gross trailer weight is mostly about over loading the tongue or the axle.
@charlotteherring59737 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of an A-Liner...easy to manage. Considering one for myself now after watching your video. Beautiful dogs!!!
@GoingNoWhereFast7 жыл бұрын
They are very nice, but quite unique. Because they are "Light Weights" they don't take too much abuse without some TLC. Most of the happiest owners are people who like to tinker and make modifications to make them better suited to their use. Hope you find what you are looking for. Thanks for the comment !!

You mentioned when you take a shower, how do you rig that up? I just bought an a-frame, downsizing from a pull behind that has a bathroom, so I'm really interested in how to rig up a shower. Thanks in advance :)
@GoingNoWhereFast8 жыл бұрын
I have an outside shower. And I just clamp it to the edge of the roof and shower next to the trailer. I carry a foam pad to stand on so I'm not standing in mud and I use a folding chair as a place to put my towel, Washcloth, soap and shampoo. See My Aliner Mods Video and about at 4 mins it shows the shower
@kathysauceda29238 жыл бұрын
Aha! My new camper has an outside shower, too but I just figured it would be handy to rinse mud and yuck off the dogs, didn't know I could hook it up for me. Nice Addition! Thank you!
@GoingNoWhereFast8 жыл бұрын
Its also great for washing dishes outside !! :-)
@kathysauceda29238 жыл бұрын
Even with my previous pull behind with a kitchen I liked to wash dishes and cook outside. Use a little bedpan from the hospital for dishes, perfect little size :) I can't wait to pick up my A-Frame. My sons have reservations on whether I can handle an A-Frame because I'm only 5"1 and because I'm 65 but I don't see why it will be a problem. I put it up and down (with the help of a stepstool and a broom for lift) at the dealership 5 times. I think I'm ready to go!!

I want you to start using those hiking poles they will lessen the chances you would injure your ankle also they are great to fend off any rabid animal you might encounter. If you do injure your self you will have a bit of assistance returning to your base. When you walk with poles you are working your upper body too and if you walked 30 min each day as I was you would notice your upper body getting more defined and cut. Fat will melt off in that area too.
@GoingNoWhereFast7 жыл бұрын
I usually have the camera in one hand and a hiking stick in the other. So the poles themselves are really only used for snowshoeing. Something I have not done from the camper.. yet ! But I used to skate a lot as a kid and have pretty indestructible ankles. But thanks for the thoughts !

Gotta be aware of wt distribution on the rear end. Too heavy promotes sway.
@GoingNoWhereFast5 жыл бұрын
YEs, And you mean SWAY.. Autocorrect I'm sure.. But really, you should weight your tongue occasionally, and hopefully it stays around 250-275. Mine especially, since I used to have 200lbs of dog in the back of the car, I don't want more than that, and the trailer should never weigh more than 2500-2750 total wt. even though it has a 3500lb axle. The frame won't handle it !, so I'm around 10% of my total weight.

.......(dog w/stolen stick)...."DAD! DAD! I double-double dog DARE you to get this stick away from me!....(other dog is 'plotting' how to sneak-up and grab the stick and RUN!....mine-mine-mine-mine-MINE NOW!!!!)I like the 'new generation' A/Line with the 'balcony slide-out' up-top. This is a huge improvement with regard to interior space and the 'wet' toilet/shower combo is very good!(I can't handle the interior-volume of the smaller 'A'....if that were the best I could manage. I'd get a really nice tent!) I'm not knocking your camper...it's just too 'enclosed' for me.

Trust me, When its cold and pouring rain outside and the BOYS still need to go out.... It was too small for me too. However, I can drag it anywhere the 4wd Exploder will go and I do have my very own bed, and the boys have theirs, wet or dry !!
@gerrynightingale90458 жыл бұрын
Going NoWhereFast'4wd. 'Exploder'...yeah, I caught that! I wasn't 'ragging' too much on your camper! I just can't handle the lack of room inside for more than a day or so...and I want all the 'COH's (comforts of home)' if I'm in longer than 48hrs. (I've looked at videos for the 'Cricket' tiny-camper, and it looks 'do-able' for me because of the lay-out...but the PRICES! YIKES!) I don't suffer too much from travel envy...I live right on top of a State Park, and I'm 1,500 feet from the Ohio River, it's all good.

Going NoWhereFast No...I'm pretty much 'burnt out' w/ RV-ing anymore. Plus I no longer have the money needed for it. (I still keep-up w/everything because I miss the 'old days' when it was actually fun to go somewhere) I'm currently lusting after the 2017 Airstream with all-new 'upgrades'...I would likely park it in backyard, ala' Willy Nelson' style, and just pretend I'm back at the Grand Canyon!

What do you pull it with?
@GoingNoWhereFast6 жыл бұрын
I bought a used 2006 Ford Exploder with a v6. I have alos pulled it with a ford Taurus and a 2006 Honda CR-V. It does not have brakes, so using the larger Exploder is much better stopping power. My Aliner weighs 2000lbs filled with gear and supplies!

Mine is 2008, I don't know too much about older ones. Just look it over very carefully, especially the framing and floor. Dance around and see if there are soft spots or any water stains.

intetesting that you criticised others for carrying too much junk at the start of your video and then proceeded to pull out numerous items which you have never used or used once on purchase. I think we all carry way more than we need and wish we could stick to just whats required.
@GoingNoWhereFast8 жыл бұрын
Oh, its not a criticism, it's just a statement of fact ! And Yes we all do it, but as other's have said, "when you need it.. you may really need it." The thing about a trailer is you can load it up with EVERYTHING you might ever need, and then you don't need to worry to much about forgetting things !! :-) Us Older Peoples !! We Forget !
