So what do the Malay people eat on their happiest day in life? Yeah, there are two ways of finding this out. One would be to be actually in a wedding and eat it there but what if there is no wedding or you are not invited? Yes, we can all stop to worry about that because there are some restaurants that are only cooking foods for Malay weddings. We visited one of them in Bukit Bintang and tried a number of Malay foods that they will serve you at a wedding. There is a number of them but it is mostly the same foods that are used and here is how their are: Let's try them together.

the dish may look deceptively simple but don't be fooled, for the family that's organising the wedding, it's literally 2-3 days of work to prep those food although it's a community effort which basically mean the entire village came by to help you cook the food and it's the experience that you can't forget,if you can i highly advise you to try and observe how Malay wedding preparations goes, from the start all the way to the event itself, it's a beautiful experience and totally worth it staying up late helping prepping the tent and gift for the attendees, observing the dad gang cooking, watching the groom and bride practicing for their big day and just hanging out with your family

I think the rice is Nasi Hujan Panas or Rain & Shine Rice. It has color s red/green rice. Other than that we also serve Nasi Minyak as alternative during wedding. Nasi minyak is well known as Nasi orang kahwin or Wedding Rice. other delicacy that usually accompany Wedding Rice are Chicken Kurma/Curry or Beef kurma/curry. Now a days we seldom serves beef/lamb becoz there r a bit pricey compare to chicken. Bottom line is, there will always be 1 protein, 1 veggie for the menu. Since sometimes we also invite our Indian Friends so we will prepare chicken dishes instead of beef.

Yes those would be the typical Malay wedding dishes in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. In the east coast, particularly Kelantan, the typical main dish is "gulai kawah" - literally "cauldron curry". It's a meat curry dish cooked slowly in cauldron (huge metal pot), but the curry is less spicy and more creamy.
