Super useful. The most cost-effective use of naval IC. A few crappy destroyers with two naval modules can make life very difficult for the enemy navy for the entire war.

I only use mines to get the “do you mine?” Achievement by laying them on the polish corridor

Do you use mines? I'd like to start using them more, when I do I prefer to deploy with ships, I find the plane modules are only available too late in the game.

I normally use them for trolling, putting cheap 3-4 destroyers with minelayer and mine-remover usually gets the job done. Also sometimes minors like Poland will lay mine even for a short period before you can capitulate them, so these destroyers must have.

Plane mine laying/sweeping is not very good, it comes late , requires special planes just for this , it is very slow- it’s better to use ships for that

When playing with Germany, you can snorkel and mine submarines and gain an advantage over the British. I've used it a few times and it worked

I always use them because it only takes four dedicated destroyers in a few years that I can forget about and I have a coastline that’s completely unavailable to the enemy. All you have to do is just figure out a way to make them fast enough to not attack and flee enemy ships. I really like the strategy as Poland because it allows you to have a navy.

They're very useful for how simple they are to apply Set a few minelayers of any sort down, put them on never engage and minelaying, and you get free naval supremacy while also damaging the enemy fleet (Which comes in handy, because if the enemy has a majority of their fleet repairing, you can easily naval invade Or if some ships split off, they become easy targets)

I use mines when i want to defend my coastlines with cheap small infantry units due to lack of man power or equipment so I'll make a fleet of 10 or so 1940 subs with two mine laying modules and snorkel so they can also sink enemy shipping once mines have been laid

I hope servers start to stop using the no mines rule, due to there not being much lag anymore, but I doubt it will happen since most people don’t care enough about them

I think I've only used mines like once for the achiement. They seem like a cool idea, but too much micro.

its not though not at all. Most naval powers have them in the starting fleet so you dont even have to build or design them. Just seperate them out.

Is it just me or do mines just do barely any damage any more? I had UK runs where I'd mine the South China Sea and devastate Japan's navy and convoys without bringing them to battle, but for more than a year now that strat barely ever yields any damage, even with 1,000 mines per sea region. AI fleets waltzing through dense minefields like it's no big deal...

@@polovoi_gigant It's only really a problem when there is a lot of mines and you're not paying attention. I've mentioned A.I getting stuck in war and mining their entire coast. Turns out 600 mines can destroy good chunk of your small ships.
