Wow, Richtje has a real shiny coat. Reintje drank alot and I loved her colt copying her, that was so darling. I love the fact, that there is no more serious bullying going on anymore, since Elsje.left. I didn't like seeing Uniek get kicked and Reintje picked on. Now they all seem to live in peace. Uniek is the perfect leader, things work without hurting one another.

Ya now they are relaxed, since the big, bad,, tough, loves to control everyone mare, Elsje left. She was a bully and had no problem being physical with all the horses, just to prove she was in charge. They sold her not too long ago. Now they all seem to have peace.. Elsje was Jacobien's mother..

I watched this with my husband. He thinks I have gone horse crazy, but he loved seeing the beautiful girls. He was amazed that I could actually tell them apart, it was some lucky guess work!!! The water is fresher then what's inside lol. It's amazes me how a Black Mare Bred with Black Stallion has a Brown Colt that eventually turns Black. They are Beautiful. Peace from WV USA

The first thing I do every morning is watch your latest video. A good way to start the day. I'm curious as to where the water in the ditch comes from, is there a river nearby?

Nope, it is groundwater. The land is below seelevel, so rain will just seep in the ground and not flow to the sea. The ditches are manmade to get rid of the excess water by a vast, nationwide system of pumpingstations. If we didn't use that, more than half of the Netherlands would be flooded by the sea.

In previous videos Yvonne says that the older horses know not to go in because it can be dangerous. The mares let their foals experiment and see if they can go in so they can learn that it is only for drinking

It depends where you live in Fryslân. One part is sandy and the other part is Clay-ish. On the Sandground you have to clean the ditches every year. Clayground is mostly not every year, it doesn't fill-up with plants that easily..

tulip GB Not that I have seen although Uniek does like to cross the bridge in the shallow area of the pond,she will even do it when she’s not in the mood specifically because it’s Yvonne who asks her to do so. As for crossing the other side they won’t go in all the way and get out they may go in a little bit but not completely it’s scary and against their instincts to go where they can’t see the bottom.

Jere Lutz All the horses have small markings or ways to identify them,Yvonne did on video on how to tell the yearlings and 2 year olds apart. For example Uniek is the tallest/biggest horse as well as the oldest (Friesian)at 14and she has gray hair on her forehead,she always goes to Yvonne when she goes out to the pasture;Uniek is with Pjirkje and Frieda. Reintje has a little cluster of swirled hairs on one side of her face her filly Lieke has this same marking but on the opposite side,Reintje’s also got a small impression in her chest near her shoulder where she was kicked by her mother as a young filly. Saly is one of the shortest horses especially compared to Uniek and she’s smaller lighter on her feet on the petite side. These are a few examples for telling them apart.

Minze teije is a lot jounger then the other foals. So he still has more of a foalcoat. He will lose it with time, just like the others.

Vilhelm Sauers Daan and Dolf were sold last winter. Once the colts are between 21/2 to 3 years old Rein will sell them. Because this is a small scale breeding stable it’s not convenient to have to many stallions mixed in with the mares and fillies especially as they begin to mature,too much testosterone and it’s safer for all this way.

@@vilhelmsauers1734 I’m sure they did,Rein always makes sure his horses go to good places with people who will care for them as they deserve,this is one of the most important things to the team when selling them. And quite often Rein does know the people he sells to such as the situation with Sanne Aukje & Berber and Elbrich as well so no worries.
