Fun fact, General Omar Bradley was detained by MPs with guns pointed at him in a checkpoint during the battle of the Bulge due to German Barndenburger infiltration scare. He was detained because the MP thought the capital of Illinois was Chicago, not Springfield, whilst General Bradley gave the right answer.

reminds me of how the Germans frequently misused their recon elements in their panzer divisions. They were given a good chunk of combat power as recon elements need that to get the info they need and defeat other scouts. The answer is No. She wanted my NCO's number, and gave her the Watch Commander's Number and after she left the scene, I called on the radio to have dispatch advise the Watch Commander. This was before Cell Phones were common place. Instead of calling she went to the PMO. I saw her enter the PMO NCOIC's Office. She came out, he told me to come in, and I told him that she tried to put me at Parade Rest, and the reason for the stop, which was Passing in a no Passing zone, and almost hitting my patrol vehicle. It’s really a shame that the LEO mission is going away, or at least diminishing. As someone who did it on both sides I found it crucial for the Green Suiters to know the LEO side, even for combat purposes. An MP E-4 has more autonomy than just about anyone else in the military, when properly trained he’s got the ability and tact to tell individuals several orders of magnitude higher rank that they are wrong. Once we stopped training them for the LEO mission the troops we had sent to us had no clue how to tell some random major or colonel “no sir, you can’t go that way”, then they’d look to the DACP sitting with them and we’d deal with it. That ability is crucial because you will need that skill during route security.

A lot of it depends on branch as well like Air Force tends to have MPs performing a lot of asset, VIP and base security whereas Army tends to have MPs focus on investigations because troops tend to provide their own security.

Way back in Dec 96, I (PFC) had just arrived at my 2nd duty station, after a 1 yr in the ROK. I was at the East Gate at Huachuca. It's about 1800ish, I watch this 'enterprise rental' approaching the gate I'm in charge of entry for. As the driver in civilian attire rolls down, the window, I ask if he has a temporary or day pass to enter the instillation, he responds no. He says that he has Military Reason, to enter post, can't remember exactly what he said, he hasn't provided me ID yet. I politely inform him "Sir, I need you to make a U-Turn around the gate, proceed back down to the light, make a Right, go down to the very next light a bit over a mile away, make another Right. Then take your DL, Military ID, if you have it, Orders, ect & go into the Main gate & get a Pass, for Base entry." At this time, He provides an ID Card, Rank 4 Star General. I promptly Saluted, gave greeting. Turns out, he was the TRADOC Commander, had a 'snafu' at the Tuscon airport, he was supposed to be picked up there, his Ride failed to show up, so he rented his own veh. I internally KNEW, I was 'screwed,' I'd already told him what I NEEDED HIM TO DO. I kept my cool and asked him again, to do as requested. Then about 20 mins later, I had the DO & Pat Sup out there. The DO was a civi, that's never been in the Military, he was chewing into my arse. The Pat Sup was my Tm Ldr, he stopped the DO for a second, I told him what happened. He backed my play, least of the worst things I coulda done, if I'd have changed actions due to rank, I welch on my Authority & duty in my position as a Guard at my Post.

@@chrispickerel2034, yeah, after my time in, I know I did the correct thing, I ended up retiring back in 2016, with 22 yrs. Like another situation, I was Pat Sup in over Christmas 06 at Hood. For about 2 weeks, on swings had trouble in the Cav Barracks. Numerous assaults, even with weapons involved. They had a Bat wide Volleyball tourney. In the Final match they had basically everyone from the barracks get into a brawl in the field. One team said it was in, the other said it was out. Having done Staff Duty before, I knew that the NCO there has access to the barracks roster. I told him he had 2 choices. First one was I take his barracks roster & charge every swinging "D" in them. Second choice was that they were going to have a Batt wide Everyone Laddy Daudy Formation, TONIGHT. The SD called the CSM, they ended up with EVERYONE in Formation, at around 0230. For the last 3 weeks they were there before they went to iraq, not a peep from them. If we'd had to charge them all it'd been about 700 Soldiers as Subjects. We'd just have been on the Subject Sheets until the time they had their formation.

Thank you! Can you break down Levels of threats? In FM 3-0 it details threat levels and the response mechanisms for them. For example there’s the Mobile Security Force and the Tactical Combat Force. I would like to know more about that
@BattleOrder
@BattleOrder 2 ай бұрын
I probably won't make a video just about the threat levels (if I do a video about rear area security like the maneuver enhancement brigades I'd talk about it) but this is what the threat levels comprise per JP 3-10: Level I Threats - foreign intelligence entities and terrorists who may conduct espionage, subversion, sabotage, assassination, and IED/bombing attacks. Level II Threats - small tactical units (generally characterized as irregulars that can carry out well-coordinated attacks) that can pose serious threats to military forces and civilians. Attacks by Level II threats can cause significant disruptions to military operations and the orderly conduct of local government and services. Level III Threats - may be encountered when a threat force has the capability of projecting combat power by air, land, or sea or anywhere into the OA. Specific examples include airborne, heliborne, and amphibious operations; large combined arms ground force operations; and infiltration operations involving small groups infiltrated into the OA, regrouped at predetermined times and locations, and committed against priority targets. So your Cold War MP mission of countering the VDV paratroopers in the rear area would be Level III job, a small group of insurgents attacking a checkpoint would be Level II, and countering bomb planters or saboteurs in the AO would be Level I Level II requires an Mobile Security Force (MSF) to counter effectively and Level III requires a Tactical Combat Force (TCF) An MSF is at a minimum an MP Platoon/USAF Security Force Flight and a TCF is generally a close combat battalion (infantry, armor, cavalry) attached to a maneuver enhancement brigade or whoever is the rear area authority

When I was on active duty we never had MP security. My Battalion in West Germany was H&HCo and Bravo Company which was 380-something bodies and we had to provide internal and external security for our airfield in the case of war. I served on the Battalion security detail and Ready Reactionary Force during alerts or when in the field. The MPs on our Kasern were responsible for security of NATO Site 5 (nukes for the field artillery) and the off post living quarters. Sometimes they picked up drunk servicemen on the Strasse. They did not guard the front gate, the Hawk missile site (later Patriot), or the airfield itself.

They are rather generous with TOE with MP Companies, that is a lot of trailer maintenance for some reason. They might want to put a fuel transport in the Support Section to this operation going and maybe one more medium truck and trailer. Someone was talking about drones below, they should put a drone operator in with the operations section, that would be a good place for them.
@carlosvalencia77712
@carlosvalencia77712 2 ай бұрын
So MP COs are designed to be deployed and operated as individual companies and fit into a supporting organization without being a big sustainment burden, that is the reason for the generous maintenance section. Last time I checked I thought we had a fueler, maybe we lost it a couple years back. Years ago we used to have cooks and a kitchen trailer too haha.
@ClayinSWVA
@ClayinSWVA 2 ай бұрын
@ yes, they used to be called independent companies because they would normally deploy as companies instead of battalions. Chemical Decomm and smoke companies are very similar due to having so much rolling stock and attaching at the division level as a company. The old Chemical platoons had one cargo humvee with a trailer but they also had a squad with transport trucks including a 5 ton fuel truck in each platoon.

I forgot what it's called it's some sort of offensive from Vietnam but it was where the Americans were attacked all at once. I forget what base but it was the Marines military police if I remember right and they held their own against the enemy. I was wondering if you could make a video on that because a lot of people don't understand the military police they believe they just round up deserters or military members who commit crimes. They don't realize that they are just as effective as every combat unit out there.
