I just purchased the V-Trek insulated for winter wear- contrary to popular belief it does get cold in NC. I’m an F3 groupie and our bootcamps are at 5:00am. I recently switched to Vibram from another minimalist shoe brand and didn’t want to have switch to something else just because of cold. I’ve worn them a couple times so far and the insulation helps to keep my feet warm without having to add socks.

Great presentation. I am a 43 to 44 shoe size. Bought the v trek insulated on number in size 44. Definitely to small and almost unwearable with Injinjies. But I will try size 45. The lining between the feet feels weird. Gotta see how the are in size 45. I am really looking forward to testing the I insulated vibrams against regular vibrams plus injinjies.

Thanks for your comment. I'm just thinking if I need to size up for injinji. Do you size up for just 1 or 2 size?

Great review. I live in Upstate New York and I'm looking to get me a pair of winter five fingers and this review really helped me decide. Just wondering if youbstill recommend the same ones since it's been posted a year ago. Thanks and YHWH bless you guys

Thanks for the comment. Yes I still recommend the same ones for winter. They do have some new Eco Wool models that may be a good casual fall/winter shoe too, but I haven't tried them.

Do you know if Vibram came out with a winter model?

What minimal shoes do you wear in the winter?

I have a pair of VTrek Ascent Insulated that I wear with heavy Toe Socks by Ininji! They keep my Vibram feet warm. I also sprayed them with waterproof shoe spray that helped tremendously!!

I wear the V-Trail 2 and I think I just have to get used to getting cold and wet feet occasionally. Thanks for the video. Seems like I might have to think about using warm Vibram trekking shoes for running in winter.

I wear regular v-trek with thin injinjis. I'm in South Texas though. I'd say we don't need anything for the snow but interestingly enough we've gotten snow twice in the last 3 years. That's unheard of for our area. With the El Nina this year, we might get snow again. Looks like it's becoming the norm so I might have to snag some insulated versions. Good to know. Thanks for the video.

I just started with Vibram shoes (living in Sweden) and I have KSO EVOs. We will see how long they will last before I need to get something else. Have you tried other barefoot options like Merrell or Vivo?

Hey man, I have some v-trail 2.0’s, I absolutely love them, but I’ve only worn five fingers for the first time in summer. How do they fair with just average wear/ standing outside in the colder weather? The hot pavement comes through in the summer, so I assume a reasonable amount of cold in the later/ early months of the year (I live in Ohio). In general, do vibrams fair decently in colder climates? I’m talking like freezing temps and up, I’m gonna go snow boots for the rough stuff. Btw, I love your crown of thorns on the wall!

Hey thanks for the comment. Your V-Trails will be pretty cold in the winter. Check out their insulated models for some decent winter shoes, though they're always a little colder than regular shoes, imo

@@RevRunRegan Seems like that’s kinda the price you pay I suppose. I have metatarsalgia, going barefoot has really pretty much resolved my pain. I got some vivo’s which at least stay a little dryer, but still chilly. Thanks for the info, man!

Great review! Has your wife tried the v-trek insulted as well? Since you mentioned she didn’t have the same issues with stiffness with the Lontras, would she get them again over the v-treks for winter trail running including below zero, mud, slush and snow?
@RevRunRegan2 жыл бұрын
My wife has some Trek Ascent Insulated, which are similar to V-trek. To you question, I think we'd both prefer Lontras for winter running due to their water-resistance and because they're still just warmer. In fact, I just found a pair barely used online that I can't wait to wear this winter.

With warm weather like that I'd not worry about cold, ever. I was looking for a proper video of winter running with barefoot shoes

Here in Kansas we have a fair amount of days in the single digits or below zero fahrenheit. It's not as bad as more northern states, but it's real winter.

What size are your boots at the end? Bc I just ordered them a size bigger to see if it gave me more room. Im also a 43 in size

Are any of them grip-able on ice? I've always had problems with black ice and ice in general. If you take on crampons, could you recommend what brand and model that would work with Five FIngers?
@RevRunRegan2 жыл бұрын
I don't know that any VFF's are specifically grippy on ice, but I have been running in snow and ice on them for years. For me, the trick is just keeping your balance and feet underneath, and not planting too hard to turn. I've never tried them with any kind of add-on traction.
