The best part is that a bequerel is a means of down playing the number of atoms that are in the contaminated food. Im too tired to do the math, but 1200 beq allowed per kilo means there are enough atoms to decay 1200 times EACH second, and the next second, and the next; for at least one half life! Thats a lot of atomic decay going on inside your body! It is a HUGE number of atoms, a huge load on your systems to attempt to remove these atomic toxins, and excrete them, and to do so rhey are carried through your blood, and pumped by your heart. Which is attacked by the cesium and decay products, cesium lodges in muscle tissue, wher it is used to try to carry out metabolic energy conversion. Not good, not at all.

Yep, cesium mimics potassium, strontium mimics calcium, and iodine is absorbed by the thyroid gland. Other isotopes, radionuclides, fission products, and their daughters sequester in other glands & organs. It's so insidious.

OS, Just as a comparison, one of the standards that I remember that were set after Chernobyl in 1986 was 500 per litre of Milk (europe-wide) although some of the smaller German states set it at 50 The Germans claimed to have destroyed a whole year's harvest, but in the UK it was pretty much downplayed, making out it was all over there in Europe. All the sheep on the hills in Wales & Scotland were left outside as the Chernobyl clouds went overhead.... then, on the quiet, out of the public's eyes, testing of EVERY newborn sheep was implemented and as far as I know, continues to this day

If Cesium is treated like potassium then we are screwed. As you said the body tries to use it like potassium. 1200 decays per second per kilogram. A kilogram is roughly 2.2 pounds.
