It was so fun seeing my New Dawn on here! I feel famous, haha. I hope she puts on lots of growth for you this year. Just a note, my own root from Heirloom is a slow starter. This will be her second season coming up. It could be my zone 6a is just harsh enough to slow the process. I just wanted to mention since your little one from Hirt's is much smaller, she might not take wing this year. Once she does, though, you will absolutely love her. I too was tempted by those prices and jumped early. I got a Julia Child and Kiss Me Kate (and it wasn’t canceled!) from Hirt’s. The Julia Child DID have two roses, though one was small. Kiss Me Kate was a single. The main Julia Child rose and the Kiss Me Kate were about the size of your New Dawn. I have ordered other things from Hirts (spring bulbs, dahlias, and gladiolus) and more hits than misses. Excited to see how these do for you.

Glad you did this video. I've bought roses from Hirts before and it's really hit or miss. The bare roots weren't great and both failed but the Julia Child and ZD rose which were potted is pretty good. I got a lot more climbers this year in the hope they're a bit tougher and stronger with regards to the root system. I've left them all in the original pots and am just going to wait for them to grow out. As a vendor, I think Hirts is good for hardy climbing roses like New Dawn and cheap dart throw type climbers however I'd leave the hybrid tea types to other vendors. High Country has 20% discount right now if not mistaken and the roses are a bit larger and established and the warranty like you mentioned. Another thing is Hurts seem to filter out bad reviews, so best to check for reviews on other sites or ask around as to what is good.

I'll have to keep Hirt in mind. I love own root roses and I love Kordes and Austin Roses. I don't mind pampering the roses a bit to get a good price. Thanks Kim 🌹

I ordered a bunch of gautheria (wintergreen) from Hirt's a year ago. To cover myself I ordered from them through Amazon and Walmart, so that I could easily return them. I was blown away. The plants were gorgeous. And large, They were shipped in March in heat packs, and they were the bizarre combination of the biggest, healthiest, and cheapest I had ever encountered. I left great reviews on both sites. $5.99 each! They are usually at least two times that price with smaller plants.

I ordered in early Jan. and got 4 varieties I want and a clematis. Yes, two of the varieties can in with two plants (new dawn and Roxanne Veranda) and the other two, including a quick silver came with one plant each. I repot them (mine roots seem to be fuller) and they are doing well. But, the white thing is scale😂😂😂I have it on my clematis.

I saw sarah raven’s favourite rose pallete & the rose called “ Belle Époque “ was just a stunner… nectarine, bronze ..orange.. mustard colour.. i had to have it.. so i’ve ordered it.. i felt very lucky to find it.. i hope you find the third rose you really wanted too.. ( i also have 28 damasks, mosses, centifolia, gallica, hybrid perpetuals.. floribundas .. bourbons coming first wk. of Nov. too

@@TheRoseGeek Thant you ma’am..i just saw your visit to motisfont abbey this morning & most of those roses there are on my order .. i used to live in London but moved to countryside in 2018. & so lost a big garden.. but i will put them 2 each in 30 cm pots .. i already have 9 David Austin. 15 miniature & 12 hybrid teas in that size pots doing excellent.. love your programs on roses .. i ask Jason from rose valley farm a lot of questions & saw u 2 with a lot of info too ..i absolutely love roses since when i saw 1 at age 4-5..now 61.. my son gets me a lot of roses too .. there’s 1 for u..🌹lots of love to you from Bedfordshire, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@@TheRoseGeek I have portland jaques cartier coming to me too.. i lost it to my other house .. a 23 yr. old ..big 5 ft tall 4 ft wide ..now i’ve got baby version coming..( ex husband made me sell my house & claimed half) as i had done cuttings ( i had 108 roses there in the ground) the man who bought my house stole them.. so start from scratch & don’t give up..

I am glad that you are trying new companies. I liked the price of Hirts but I will prefer vendors like Northland or High Country, their quality, customer service is the best.

I have all three of these roses. New Dawn has done amazing. Kiss Me Kate has very thick canes so it needs to be trained early. It hasn't bloomed much as of yet. Only a few blooms over the first two seasons. I'm hoping for more this third season as the blooms are gorgeous. My Quicksilver is a bit of a slow grower (two seasons so far) so I can't say much about it as of yet. And are all Hirt's roses own root?

I think they are about 3 months old. My roses I propagated 3 months ago are this size. My one year Olds are 2 feet tall

If you want cheap roses you should come to Poland. We buy bare foot David Austin roses for 9 $ and Kordes, Tantau gor 6 $ 😉
