Hello! My signal path is: Jackson JS22-7 (with a S. D. Invader SH-8B pickup) -> M-Audio M-Track II USB soundcard -> DAW with free amp&cab simulation. As you can hear from my songs, the guitar tone clearly sucks. Do you think buying just a DI Box (Behringer di600p) would get me a much better guitar sound? Also, what's your favourite setup and signal path to record metal guitars only using amp and cab simulators? Thanks a lot

Very informative video.👌👍 I want to record my video on DSLR and sometimes on mobile phone with best quality audio sending from mixer to DSLR/Phone for live streaming on social sites and sometimes live singing in hall(auditorium) so for that what equipments and devices I need? DI box, audio interface, iRig streaming etc, what will be the best but budget option? Once I recorded on my iPhone sending audio from mixer out to phone mic in but the audio was over gained and distorted.

Hey man! The Things I do: Use amp modelling on my board, with strymon iridium and strymon effects. Use that with an electric guitar. What i also do is play acoustic via pedals And last thing: I play back any instruments i use with cubase via reamping, send it through my stereo effects to put those great reverbs on them and send em back. I mostly would take a DI box for ground loop elimination and so that i dont always send unbalanced signal through the room and instead change the signal to balanced on my board so that I have a clean signal.... What shall i use, active or passive. I want 1 Box, always on, it should leave the sound of the signal alone as much as possible. Also my pedal board is filled with an intelligent system high quality buffer pedals and true bypass: Buffer in the beginning, the middle and as a last pedal. So there aint too much signal loss at the point where i go into the DI. Greetings.

@@AVMEVideos Okay alright Why do you think a passive one would suite my work better? Thanks a lot

@@marcusstrymon693 , because the final out put in your audio signal chain is via your pedal which is active device so use a passive DI box to get optimum audio level signal.

all the people asking if its really needed to use a DI box, no its not, but it will s ave you a ton of headache micing amps alone, mixing the signals in the daw is the best option. you dont HAVE to do or have anything, its a matter of how much do you want your finished product to sound like a real pro made CD or record? if you are cool sounding like a high school garage band, then plug into a tascam 4 track and go for it, but it costs serious money to sound like a serious artist.

Best information on KZbin! Question can I still use passive DI with a Passive Electric guitar will that help with some buzz elimination?
@AVMEVideos7 жыл бұрын
yes you can use , the signal would be balanced and eliminate ground loops and hum but signal would not be of optimal level in comparison to a active DI box used in conjunction with passive guitar.

Thx for sharing. My Q is, can I use an XLR to 1/2 TRS cable from a DI box's out to a line level input of my sub compact mixer to preserve mic channels for mics alone, thus maximizing the mixer's overall inputs. I don't want to lug around another mixer to sub mix to the main. Thx in advance for any inputs on this matter. Happy, and safe New Year

Hi! Do I really need a DI box to record my guitars/bass guitar if I plug the guitar/bass direvt into an Audio Device, for example Steinbergs UR44? I guess my Rickenbacker bass would benefit from it since it produces a low hum when I record it directly into my Cubase, through the UR44... But if I sit a few meters away from the computer the hum is gone.

So I wanted an active di initially. I would be using it to record/monitor bass and guitar. Would it be bad to plug those passive instruments to a passive di box if I bought that instead...? A little confused :(
@AVMEVideos7 жыл бұрын
nothing bad would happen , it's just you would need good pre amp on the audio mixer to get good level audible sound without adding noise .Active DI boxes have high input impedance compared to passive DI boxes.Passive instruments ( high impedance output ) via passive DI( low impedance input) could also result into some high frequencies loss due to impedance miss match. Hope this takes your confusion away.

Hi, I've got ground loop hum on my dual amp setup on guitar. My setup is like this: Guitar - - - > AB pedal - - - > 1. Irig - - - > Ipad/BIAS FX - - - > Passive Speakers (For high gain) 2. Straight to a solid state amp (ultra clean & sterile) The first route hums like ass when setup in dual rig, but remains silent if i use it independently. Can this DI Box solve my issue? Should i use passive or active one? Does any DI Box with ground lift would work or i need to get the expensive one? What makes differences between expensive and cheap DI Box? Thx in advance.
@AVMEVideos6 жыл бұрын
first , connect the guitar directly to amp to check if hum is there , if it's there test with a different wall socket . Yes a DI box will most likely resolve the ground loop issue , if your guitar does not have on board battery powered EQ/Fx then just get a active DI box if it has then get a passive DI box , don't spend more than $30 or £25 on a DI box .

I thought if u have like an acoustic electric that requires a 9 volt battery you need a passive di box and for a bass guitar electric that carries no battery is an active di box 🤔

If Electric bass guitar doesn’t require 9v battery then use active DI box to plug it into the audio mixer’s mic or line level inputs . If you’re connecting your electric bass guitar directly to the amp ( instrument level input ) then no need for the DI box .

my flamenco guitar has pickup +DPA 4099 , i want to have effects from my pedal with pickup and keep the natural sound from the mic. is it possible to keep them both through this di box?
@AVMEVideos6 жыл бұрын
no need to feed the mic via DI box , configure guitar's pedal on a 2nd channel on mixer as FX ( via DI box ) , on the mix keep the Mic as main feed ( this would bring in the room environment in the mix) and apply the FX channel according to your desired requirement.

Hey brother, i will explain you one by one as its on board. I have my acoustic guitar takamine runs with 9v battery, goes into behringer tuner, goes into behringer 6 band eq, goes into boss rv6 reverb, goes into line6 digital delay then goes to snake cable that goes into mixer thn eventually to FOH. Now my three pedals are powered by daisy chain and i suspect its due to daisy chain and in all EQ is the most noisy that transfer hiss to main output. Presently i dont use DI and my cables are one shielded anothrr one jst local type sheilded cable..i will send you picture of my board...thnx plz help
@AVMEVideos7 жыл бұрын
you would need a passive DI box as you have a active guitar & active eq/effects units . Separate all the electric cables from audio signal cables i.e TS/TRS/XLR to your best abilities , introduce the DI box in signal chain via the last device going to snake/ FOH ( line out to line in , pad 0 , ground loop/earth active , if nothing works test by attenuating the signal by -20dB from DI box this will bring the overall signal down including the noise floor of all the active device then adjust proper gain structure from the FOH mixer , amps etc) . Test it with one pedal plugged in at a time , also power the units individually. If you have a small mixer with headphones to test with then connect the XLR cable coming from DI box to mic in and test to hear if the hiss is there , it could be the snake and other devices after the snake causing the hiss .Hope this helps let me know the outcome.
