I’m interviewing for an AE role at a TV station in Denver! It would be my first sales job, so I’m a little nervous. But I have a lot of experience in digital media, TV, and marketing, so I’m trying to remain confident!

Oh fun! I've found that digital media / marketing experience translates REALLY well. I had zero experience with sales before becoming an AE for nine radio stations, but the transition was so smooth! You'll do amazing -- stay confident and optimistic and break a leg!!

This is certainly a beaut! I am contemplating on stepping into a SAAS company as an AE, and I found this video truly helpful. Mighty informative and explicit introduction. Thanks a lot for your good work! Hot dog!

How long did it take for you to get used to the AE role? I just started my account AE for a big company and I’m feeling so so about it. It’s fully remote, so I can’t complain. But I don’t know, seems like a lot of work. Maybe it’s cause I’m just learning and feeling doubtful of myself.

Hey! So, I entered in with a really positive mindset... knowing that it was probably going to be REALLY tough at first. But it's very true that the longer you're in it, the easier it gets... the beginning involves a lot of tough, ground work. But what helps (me) significantly is the work environment and going out into the community every day to meet clients! I'm not sure I'd feel the same way about the position if it was fully remote. But each person will be entirely different when it comes to that aspect! I would just advise giving it at least a year -- in my experience, that's a great time frame to give yourself a trial run!

Well well said. I am in B2B sales from last 10 years and have worked in multiple industries. Trust me it is a fresh start even when you switch roles. But rightly said, be determined and give yourself an year and you will see things turning around slowly. It is patience & resilience game so have to have thick skin. All the best

I can relate to your comment. I've been in sales & marketing but this is my first "AE" role. I've been feeling a little overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. I feel like it's a lot but I'm not doing enough - if that makes sense. Hang in there and keep a positive outlook on your growth.

What are some standard Technology Platforms account executives use on a daily basis, excel ect?
@jennajustman Жыл бұрын
This will definitely vary, but for the industry I was in (radio // broadcast), it was definitely old-school. I used: a lead tracking software (which we eventually switched over to an excel sheet) - to track hot leads / prospects and ensure we weren’t double calling on them trello (a project management software) to track where my clients were in the sales funnel (although that was not required, just a personal choice) an internal CRM database (for entering sales orders and for setting up invoicing) powerpoint for creating contracts and presentations word for writing radio scripts and completing various paperwork (like a remote broadcast request)

I have a question Does account executive have to maintain a balance sheet,p/l account or are they always involve in paper work only??
@jennajustman2 жыл бұрын
Hey! In most cases: no. But I think that largely depends on the business in question. AE's usually focus on client support, relationship building, closing deals, etc. and there are separate Accounting depts to handle revenue/loss numbers! But that would be a great question to bring to an interview to help clarify job duties.

How to find a remote work like yours?
@jennajustman2 ай бұрын
One of the websites I used when job searching was FlexJobs! I also searched on GlassDoor (not a remote-specific job site, but I landed a remote role through a posting I saw there). Usually you can adjust filters to include "remote" or "hybrid" style job postings on any job search website!

What kind of schooling/college education/coarse work is required to become a Sales Executive
@jennajustman2 жыл бұрын
Most Account Executive positions are entry level -- so no higher education is required! Although a degree certainly gives you a leg up. :) Depending on the position, experience in Marketing and/or Business will really help! But again, not usually required. I think most sales positions value work experience in sales as opposed to any specific coursework, because its such a hands-on job.
