Amazing idea for an episode. This is something you deal with every time working with others and normally these others are not as technical as we are.

One term I didn't see mentioned, fizzy, fizzly. Usually up in the top end that makes you want to smack a speaker to get rid of it. Solid state amps, digital, or amp Sims suffer the most from this. New speakers and some tube amps also.

"Hard" for shells, when referring to maybe 2k-4.5k. Also, bite/ on guitars I'd say 2k ish, but could go down into the central mids or up to 3.5k even. Bite could also refer to higher up in the presence region, but it's probably best to use another word for that area.

Not that I'm any real authority on anything, but when I think of a "lush" sound, I also think of something generally pleasing but I think there's an implied sense of space/ambiance that accompanies something that sounds lush. Just my 2 cents. Either way, great video! I think trying to contextualize all of these loose terms more consistently is a great idea, communication is key!

Hey Miami. Check out that Sonnox Claro plugin. It helps communicate ideas and understand the frequency spectrum with words in a way that isn't too patronising.

How come if I slap an EQ on a track and get rid of 100hz and below I'll still see stuff in that area if I were to check on a second EQ plugin?

Are you using a brick wall type Q factor? Not an expert here but my understanding is that Most lo/hi passes aren’t cutting out those frequencies entirely, they’re just minimizing them to the point of being inaudible. However if you use a brick wall type Q factor I believe it should theoretically cut those frequencies. There might be a little bleed over but it shouldn’t really be audible. Hopefully that helps.

Braden pretty much summed this up. But most filters with slopes are rolling the bulk of the frequencies off, not eradicating them -Miami

We need a convention to "standardize" those qualities. I'm sick of "boxy" meaning somewhere between 200 to 1900 hertz.
