How wonderful to find a Gen-X Designer giving considered takes on contemporary fashion. I work in the industry and in my experience brands are so incredibly focused on the younger consumers that we almost forget that there's an adult segment worth catering and listening to as well. Awesome to hear your perspective. I'll be excited to see which direction this goes and what kinds of brands you will be discussing in the future. Considering the furniture in the background I can't help but hope you will cover less fashion-driven design as well, such as what Norwegian Rain, Story MFG, or Ten C represents. Excited either way!

Love this video! To be honest, as I'm approaching my 30's, I've started naturally leaning towards these slightly smarter, more polished looks that still usher in some of those baggier streetwear styles that I used to opt for when I was younger. It's a nice blend of the comfort of streetwear chic mixed in with classic tailoring principles, and for people my age it seems like the most natural evolution into that next phase of 'dressing up'.

I love the return of fuller cuts and pleats. Especially with trousers it makes more sense to me and people underestimate how comfortable a pair of flannels or corduroys can be vs jeans, track pants etc.

Very cool! I like the conversation format you've adopted here and hope to see more. The point you made on corpcore being a response to the current state of affairs truly hit a note with me, especially how it was a sort of rebellion to the contemporary image. Personally, I'd love to hear more about your journey, specifically about the things you've designed, the process, and maybe how you've adapted to the climate of modern design. There are so many things I want to know that I feel you could share like what is the relationship between marketers (because that's where I'm headed) and designers or what's it like being a creative director (it sounds super cool). Also, you look incredibly dapper, like proper vintage :)

I integrated Corpcore into my look and love playing with wider proportions. I am 47 years old. To be ahead of time I get my inspiration from women’s wear and fashion houses like Zara, Cos etc. Those looks I reinterpret by quality pieces from various designers. Never liked fashion more than nowadays 😊
@gentlemanfinn862 ай бұрын
Excited for this channel. I was thinking the over sizing is the most popular because of the comfort. Often shirts and ties are not seen as comfortable but the roomie pyjamas is. People want to look more put together, but still want to keep the comfort. I’m interested in your explanation of the big designer houses. But where do you think ready-to-wear brands like engineered garments or Ami Paris fits in here. More for the masses but have been doing oversized casual suits or Ami pants with waistbands and pleats. I feel like this is somewhat similar to corpcore but still not the same?
@PetersPrism2 ай бұрын
Great call on Ami. This brand has consistently been playing with classic mens tailoring, particularly trousers and jackets, and I can absolutely see many elements from, say, FW2024, pulled into a Corpcore ensemble. I love EG, maybe one of my favorite brands, and ditto for a lot of their pieces; though I will say EG is interesting in that it rides a fine line between a more 'military'/'Americana' aesthetic and a more traditional corporate approach.
@NXatNight2 ай бұрын
Very accurate description of this type of trend, though looking at my grandfathers photos from the 60’s it seems that in a way were going full circle on the for part. Regardless I’m very curious what the next few years will bring to the classic/street wear combinations inspired by the office look. Great video and keep sharing your view of the fashion industry with us.

great video. Something I’ve always found interesting is the difference between high fashion suiting / corpcore and the sartorial world. The medium is the same but you will never hear anybody from the sartorial world use the codes of high fashion, even in an understated manner. If we think about the suit and what is a great suit, we have two completely different answer depending on the point of view. The codes and details are as different as possible while staying about or on a suit
@PetersPrism2 ай бұрын
Yep, totally agree. I think brands like Balenciaga are using the more traditional sartorial ideas of suiting as a jumping off point to explore new ideas of expression.

This was quite interesting to watch. While I have never been a big fan of modern fashion or trends, I do get the sentiment of Corpcore. I personally work from home and come into the office only twice a mouth and want to distinguish my home life from work life. I do this by wearing a classic tailored suit and tie, with the occasional waist coat. It is interesting to see the different ways people accomplish the goal of standing out in the workplace, whether it be classic styles or more modern ones like Corpcore.
@PetersPrism2 ай бұрын
I also prefer that differentiation between work and home. The absolute worst was during the pandemic when it all bled into each other. 😩

Hey! Enjoyed the video and thoughtful fashion analysis, looking forward to future vids! I think I saw you on a street style vid decked out in Thom Browne (could've been someone else). I wonder if you'd consider Kim Jones' Dior "corpcore". I get this sterile futuristic corporate environment vibe (and not in a good way) from his collections and runway settings. I suppose what he lacks is a subversion of the codes to make it interesting.
@PetersPrism2 ай бұрын
Thank you, and yes, that was me! I can def see how one could incorporate Kim Jones' Dior into a 'corpcore' look but I agree with you the subversiveness isn't totally there (for me at least).
