@@bhew7409 LOL. No Alessandro Del Piero is a much bigger legend. Christian Vieri was the highest scorer in Seria A for 2 seasons and also broke the World Record for the most expensive transfer before Zinedine Zidane broke that. Di Canio's CV at a small club like West Ham with no Champions League experience is small. Sorry. I am Italian. In Italy nobody knows Di Canio.

@@halfvolley11 in the UK he is a massive legend, like Cantona. He just is, you can say no and quote stats all you want. Italy has an awful league with empty stadiums and loads of match fixing. Sorry but I don't care about it. Slow boring football too. Worst watch of the big leagues easily!

utd fan, my best fond memory is that a game west ham vs everton, the keeper ( i think is paul gerrard) was down and injured, he had a great chance to score the empty net, instead going to score (from a team mate cross), he caught the ball and let the medic to come in and let the keeper have the medication. Fair play to him!

That late nineties West Ham team should have become a dynasty. Imagine a team in the mid 2000's with Rio, Lampard, Carrick and Defoe as the spine. And if Cole had stayed and was used in the right position he could have been as good as any of them.

@@dwaynedibley997 I think he’s more referring to the 99/2000 team which had Di Canio, Sinclair, Kanoute, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Rio Ferdinand etc. The problem was the last four were all very raw at that time. Put their older selves together with peak Di Canio (as he was at that time) and we’d have won the league. The timing was right but all wrong at the same time.

Wednesday didn't let him go... he worked his card by not turning up after he'd been sent off by Paul Alcock during the Arsenal game. Wednesday stopped his wages after a month, as he'd not been near the ground and refused to speak to Danny Wilson... he ended up going for £1m to West Ham... When he turned up the next season with West Ham at Hillsborough, he was hiding, touched the ball only 9 times, and Harry RedKnapp took him off at half time....

Di Canio knew exactly what he was doing at Everton, he knew full well there was no chance of scoring, it’s not as if it was chest height, he had to reach up above his head and to the side to catch the ball.
