What does Dracarys mean? During the confrontation between Meleys, Sunfyre and Vhagar, we saw how the brothers used the word Dracarys several times, which caused their dragons to attack with fire, while Rhaenys avoided mentioning the same word, and only asked her dragon to attack. But what does Dracarys mean exactly and why did Rhaenys avoid using that word? What would you think if I told you that the reason is much sadder than you imagine? She was 100% going for the kill, she didn't say dracarys because her vision wouldve been obscured by the fire just like Aegon was. Aegons shot fire and it made him lose sight of meleys.

I think he’s actually right in that she wasnt hoing for the kill. With all of Raenys’ attacks that were effective the resulting effect was the dragon being brought to the ground. Her aim seems like it was to claw at the dragon, take it out of flight and simply weaken them. Though I agree with you in the assesment that using dragon fire would blind her and put her at a disadvantage.

Attack is a broader command. It isn't limited to 'use dragon fire'. Teeth, claws, manoeuvres, can be included. Rhaenys committed and commanded. I think Meleys understood. Two great queens.

I believe they have a connection with the dragons where they don’t need to tell them anything. I mean if you think about it, they almost whisper sometimes and the dragon kind of listens. I think they have a magical connection through the blood magic, it’s just that the word is a way of expressing their thoughts.

She knew dragons can not be burned and using fire may hinder the vision of her and/or her dragon during the fight . At least that is what I was thinking . I was thinking she had much more experience and understood the difference and ways to control her mount . At least that what i hope it was anyway .

Also my theory is sunfyre caught on fire because of the ignition “fluid” that comes out of it when meleys claws it, essentially coating it and aegon in the ignition fluid which made the fire continuously burn them

I'm still heartbroken on what happened to Rhaeny's and Meleys. Even though she was drawing a line to Rhaenyra but it couldn't change the fact that she was a good mother and wife to the Velaryon's and a true heir and should be the queen but never was. Valyrian language kinda reminds me of J.R.R Tolkien's language. Full of mysteries and chant that only a few people could understand and speak. It is indeed a language of love and mystery as per my opinion.

To me, “attack” is more specific. She didn’t want her dragon to just burn. She wanted her to use her hard-earned-battle experience to truly go after their opponents. Rheanys was an experienced rider with a decades-long-bond with her dragon. In truth, I am so sad to lose them both.

Rhaenrya, because I've watched her take into account all that Rhaenys spoke to her. She hasn't struck out because she wants to make sure she has tried to persue for peace at no avail. She's wise beyond her age

Rhaenys did NOT "avoid" saying the word. It just wasn't shown in the scene edits. Some things don't need to be seen or heard over and over, and that's what film editing is all about. Rhaenys would have said the word just like the others. Likewise, Aegon was the only one heard giving his dragon the "forward" order, but that doesn't mean the other dragon riders didn't do the same thing if needed.

Has it been confirmed there will be a series featuring Aegon the Conqueor? We aren't going to learn anything new unless GRRM writes the screenplay and fills in the Valyerian background. Else it will be all the conjecture of the showrunner and writing team. And we all saw the results when there is no "source material '.

I think she just activated automatic/autopilot mode by saying "ATTACK, MELEYS". Meaning, Meleys can Dracarys whenever she sees the opportunity even without hearing the command.

guys I will tell you this: for the whole Game of Thrones and HotD series nobody said 'dracarys' right or at least it didn't sound the way it should be. It was kind of forced out and actors didn't attached to this detail. For the first time Aemond said it and really nailed it with Vhagar in episode 4🔥 You can clearly hear how dragon rider is attached to dragon soul cause they are one🔥🔥🔥

Did not Rhaenys use dragonfire when she first came upon the Green troops, burning them, before Aegon came on the scene? To do that, she would have had to utter “Dracarys!” to Meleys, otherwise her loyal dragon would not have done so. That was at the beginning, because Rhaenys arrived before Aegon.

I personally think Rhaenys went into battle with a death wish. This whole time she wanted peace but when she found out that her husband had an affair she was heartbroken and didn’t care anymore. You could see how much she was at peace with her fate as she fell to her death in that scene.

Interesting theory, this is in keeping with her and Meleys not killing them all at Aegon’s coronation. This makes it even more tragic for the soldiers she used fire on. I was very sad to see her and Meleys die. Very deserving honour comparing her to a Knight/Samurai warrior very fitting indeed. Team Black of Rhaenyra Targaryen of House Targaryen. Rhaenys was careful during her aerial battle with the Two Targaryen from the Green's side. She knows that it was a Do or Die ride mission to face the two dragons. Using the word " Dracarys" could harmed the people who are currently in the battlefield. The princess cared more for her nephews even though they have done something to Lucerys. We have seen what Aemond and Vhagar after they landed. Soldiers were stomped by the huge dragon and some were caught in Fire. She could have used the word but she was off to bite and claw Vhagar and then Sunfyre. Dracarys for me is a sacred word for the Dragons on which only a pure valyrian person like the Targaryens could spoke. It could also be a spell to control the dragons as for it was meant that the rider and their dragon are bind together. Witches like Melissandre perhaps has learned it as for they learn that the Valyrian language could be used on making spells and perhaps the ability to conjure dragons without the blood of valyrian people like the targaryen's.
