This is very cute and informative. I do like the tune and how it was adapted. A cleaver medium to introduce some of us to the Quakers, which I admit did not know were still active, much less in my own community. My ancestors were Quakers and came to America through Chester, PA. It is only through a conversation with a Quaker that I came upon this video. I had taken notes and finally followed-up. I didn't even know who George Fox was. God bless us all!

This is epic. ❤😂 I am still learning more about GF and the Quakers, as a non-denominational Christian. But I love what I know about him. I just think it's important to also look to Jesus first and foremost, not to look to other saints over Christ and God's inspired word. But to be inspired by other saints is good if tempered. I recently found sources that claim he did not care for the Word. This seems repeatedly proven to be false, one of the main ways we can become closer to Jesus is through the Word. He was the living word and the holy spirit lives in us. But we also look to His Word as he asks us to. Also worth looking into; Karaite Judaism. If I knew of a Messianic Karaite Synagogue I'd definitely seek out fellowship with them excitedly. Instead of worshiping as rabbis or preists dictate; we need to consider all of God's word. Sometimes that can come to us individually, and amongst the church of followers. But it's also there in the Bible. 📖 🕊️ I don't belong to any denomination because I'm unsure about belonging to a Synagogue as a gentile. But I also haven't found a church that is agreeable to the Word. We still should observe holy days above the Catholic Paegan days and commercialized superficiality. My family has been learning to celebrate holy days. They all tie into symbolism of Jesus and Christian faith. After all they were ordered by our God, the same as the Hebrew God. Jesus' birth and life in Earth in human form is celebrated during Sukkot when he was likely born. Passover, not only about Exodus but the Resurrection (and leading up to and the share and tell after)..... We even celebrate Hannukah not as a holy day but a Biblical historical recognition of God's miracles and the specific example obviously....the Maccabean Revolt of not worshipping falsely. The servant candle symbolic of our duty as Christians. 🕯️ Reformation Day is something we also observe, lightly, as it speaks against the corruption of the divided churches and the sin of using the Word for ones own greed. Seems the Catholic Church created All Hallows Eve and All Saints Day to hide Reformation Day from memory, since the act was against their clergy specifically. Thank you for reading (and sharing..? 😊) Peace be with you. 🐟 שלום ✝️

Interesting to hear your thoughts on your path, and great at this song. I'm an interfaith Christian, and hold Ganfhi, the University, and FD Roosevelt's Social Gospel vision as the highest expressions of Jesus Christ's integrity and legacy. George Fox, too, really. And Christian Science of Mary Baker Eddy. Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments," and I have found myself needing to formulate things this way to do that. Ultimately, we live in Jesus' integrity legacy and its deviant hypocrite and apostate problems, I have had to articulate empirically. Jesus' legacy is University-based, Civil Rights, needing democratic and just markets, UN human rights, sustainability and social movement society, all with structured pluralism. And the problem. George Fox and the Quakers played and have played repeatedly important roles and besides Gandhi and the more recent Christian Science, the University, and my full dream team mostly noted, sparked modern social movements in fine agitation and organization style.

I love this! It works in so many ways. Like how the Ylvis song asking "dog goes woof and cat goes meow, but what does the fox say?" contrasts with "Christ says this, and the apostles say that, but what can you say?" and at the end of your parody, the subject moves away from the historical deeds and words of George Fox, to the exposition on his insight, which is all about the mysticism, for lack of a better term, of listening for the revelation of the still small voice while the goofy original is about the mystical, presumably unknowable, nature of what the fox has to say. Both songs transition from the known to the unknown, but the absurdity of the original song is the perfect canvas upon which to lay out the profundity of Quakerism and make it pop. The Ylvis song makes me smile, but when I read the profound words of George Fox with the nonsense sounds of the Chorus in the background, I get chills! "The Lord does not dwell in these man-made temples, but rather in people's hearts" Clearly! If this were a mainline protestant church and not a Quaker meetinghouse, the voiced nonsense, the dancing, the techno, the costumes, would all seem far too irreverent. I've listened to this probably 20 times over the last week as it keeps popping up in my queue as I work through all of the Quaker Speak videos. I've just started to realize that unprogrammed, liberal Quakerism, is something that I need in my life. I went to my first meeting for worship on vacation a couple of weeks ago and now I've located a nearby worship group that I hope will speak to my condition. I am also waiting on a book on Quakerism with great anticipation. I can't wait to learn more. I think I've always been a Quaker! I know I'm about 10 years late, but great job!

As a history nerd, I salute you! I just stumbled across this via investigating some Quaker songs in the "faith" section of my giant folk song book. I love that you left the lyrics and quotes in order in the description and will be reading all of them to extract all possible life lessons and laughs. It's always a healthy sign when any religious group can make objectively funny jokes about themselves. If I lived anywhere near Massachusetts, I'd make some attempt to pay you nice folks a visit, which is saying a fair bit, since I'm generally not the church-goer in my family.

George Fox swore an oath under the toleration act of 1689, in which he swore to the monarch in England that he would obey them and give allegiance to them. So he took the mark of the beast and the moment he bowed down to the monarch of England the persecution stopped. George Fox appeared before Parliament in England and James ll released 1500 Quakers from prison, there was no more persecution. George Fox died a a year or two later at the age of 66 as a betrayer of Christ and all his people are now under the control of the devil.
@benguaraldi9 жыл бұрын
+BIBLEisMARKofBEAST This is completely historically inaccurate. Fox never swore an oath to a monarch. James II commanded that all non-Anglicans be released from jails, not just Quakers. Also, the idea that one has the mark of the beast for obeying a monarch is a highly debatable theological point which I definitely disagree with. See Mark 12:17.

+Ben Guaraldi You do not understand the toleration act of 1689; George Fox agreed to it whether he took a formal oath or not, so he bowed down to the devil. You do not know your history, the minute George Fox accepted it then all the persecution stopped. And as you stated, he was not the only one that bowed. He took fifty thousand people to hell because he bowed down to the dragon and his system. He did not fight a good fight in the end. Today the Quakers are as dead as the catholic and protestant churches. He fought a good fight for a long time and many of his followers died in prison, four were hanged in Boston. But he did not endure until the end, he became like Judas that betrayed Christ.

+Ben Guaraldi The BIBLE IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST Constantine the first beast compiled 50 bibles, legalized Christianity and set up the false prophet (pope). King James the second beast, born 6/1566, 6th of Scotland, authorized a bible in 1611 that now has 66 books to control the people with, an image of God's word they make to speak (the bible says). You carry it in your hand and memorize it in your head. If it were possible Satan would deceive the elect with this delusion. By having faith in this idol, they break the new covenant of having faith in the Living Jesus through the Holy Spirit who is the word of God. The bible is only history and has no authority. It is only history about God and has been used to control man with and to misdirect them from God in the Spirit.Satan uses it to deceive the world into thinking they are saved. The bible of itself is nothing, but when you have faith in it as the word of God then you have taken the mark of the beast. If you claim to know God from it you are deceived and are stealing the faith of others from the past and your faith will fail. Seek Jesus for the Holy Spirit; it is the only way to overcome the mark. Mathew, Mark, Luke and John were under the Old Covenant. A testament is of force after men are dead. It has no strength at all while the testator lives. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. So Mathew, Mark, Luke and John are under the Old Covenant because Jesus had not yet shed His Blood. We are to be led by the Spirit and not history books that have been interpolated.Ask Jesus for the Holy Spirit and He will lead you home to God.

+BIBLEisMARKofBEAST : Bizarre. Swearing an oath is very different to obeying a law. If the King orders some prisoners freed, and you obey that by going free, have you necessarily sworn an oath? You may pick and choose which laws to obey, which are obeyable as a Christian, for instance, (?slavery comes to mind?) but that is not the same as swearing "by" something. The US Pledge of Allegiance to the flag is promising to be loyal to a piece of cloth. Is that an "oath" or merely idolatry? By driving below the posted speed limit, I am obeying a law, but not swearing an oath of loyalty to my state government. Bibleis, , I respect your choice to not view the Bible as inviolate Word of God, as do many Quakers, but please do not deny the idea that it MIGHT be inspired BY God for our consideration and guidance. You have a good day!

+Jamscout You need to look around, they are not persecuting and hanging Quakers today, they are not putting them in prison. They do not suffer persecution. WHY? Because George Fox made an agreement with the devil. He took fifty thousand people to hell and destroyed the future of Holy Ghost people. He bowed down before the god of this world and doomed all that would come after him until now. Jesus' voice is being heard again now, but it took hundreds of years to bring back Holy Ghost people. That inner light that George Fox let the devil put out is shining again. THE BIBLE IS AN IDOL and THE BIBLE IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST!
