I'm curious if you know, or if its quantifiable; but one thing you did not mention (or maybe I missed it?) was medicines and or possible doctor hospital visits. Many of us planning protracted travels to Mexico in particular, wonder about their health care systems for non - residents / tourists persons. Nothing is perfect and most reasonable persons get it, but I think your fans (raises hand) would enjoy a deep dive into the travel concerns regarding insurance / doctors / safety etc. These are the less-sexy videos to do, but I think they are the more prescient in these uncertain and pandemic-fear tines. Again, cheers from this Puerto Rican living in California.

Hey Dardin! This is a really good point to raise and something that we will think about putting into our future videos. Fortunately in our first 6 months we didn't actually need any medical assistance. We both have regular prescription drugs and we managed to take a lot of those with us to cover our period away however, we have now used our backlog of those so you will see in our future travel that we will need to find a way to get hold of what we need while on the road. We will talk about insurance again in a later video (think we discussed Insurance in one of our Querétaro videos but can't be sure). Really good point for you to raise though, we appreciate it... this helps us craft our content going forward. Have to say (because we know you get us ;-) ) that what we have planned in how we present what we are doing in the future is really exciting to us as we are going to have big events but that will be supported with a lot more of the mundanity of travel life and the complications that we have to manage and this feeds directly into your comment here. We really hope you enjoy that content. The first of those videos will come out as we hit our first new location. Thanks as ever for your kind support. Best wishes Neil & Sarah

Very Interesting, keep these up every 6 months or a year. If you think UK is expensive, don't come to Australia. When we had a 5 week trip to the UK in 2018, we found groceries cheap, most eating out about the same. What we discovered in the UK, and is starting to be here in Aus, is take away food, or made up sandwiches and salads in the supermarkets. This would be good on a budget.

I think it's amazing that you've been able to stay on budget when you consider how expensive the U.S. is! Thank you for this breakdown. It's no wonder people can't afford vacations here! Richard and and I don't eat out as much since Covid, but when we do we often go to some of the Mexican restaurants around town. The folks working there are from Mexico so it's great, authentic food. We always note how much more cheaply we can eat there as opposed to the typical American places. : )

@@2GoRoam I live in AZ and have traveled all over the UK and Ireland and find there more expensive than here. It may be because I know where to look here in the US. Vegas isn't cheap either. They love tourist $$. Canada isn't cheap for that matter. Even though we are so close to Mexico, I refuse to go. My husband goes for work and tells me how dangerous it is. AirBNB is expensive. Talk to locals and ex-pats for lower prices on accommodation, food, and transport. There are plenty of KZbin channels that outline how to save loads of money in different areas of the world. I would suggest saving money by avoiding eating out for breakfast, Buy local fruit or groceries for breakfast. Eat at Greasy Spoons so to speak. I did that when I was in sales and traveling on the road. I was given a fixed amount that I could spend on meals. I ate breakfast in my hotel room and bought ingredients for lunches. I would go out to dinner at a restaurant and still kept within my daily food allowance. Had I eaten out for all meals, I would have been out of pocket a considerable amount.
@2GoRoam
@2GoRoam 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert! Yes where we can we try to operate through locals, in fact our accommodation in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico was through a local and the price was far better for it. We almost always eat breakfast at home, very easy to do. Also we generally only eat two meals a day (we will break both of these rules in our Food video from Athens!) I just discovered your channel through the livestream Our Freedom Years did recently. You two are adorbs! I had plans to travel the world. I gave everything away except what could fit in a rented small car. Covid derailed me and then a family health issue kept me in the US. I'm wondering what 2022 will bring. I thought I'd rent my house but that was a nightmare and a few weeks ago it was sold. My goal is to get down to 53 items and travel with one carry-on. The one thing I've discovered with Covid is I'm not sure how enjoyable world travel will be alone. The KZbin channels I watch all have couples. If you two were single, would you still choose this lifestyle? Thanks for the entertaining and informative content.

Hey Kimberly! We were watching the replay of the @Our Freedom Years livestream and were surprised to get a shoutout from them, we love their vlogs and are happy to have them as friends (all four of them lol). How cool to get down to 53 items and one carry on! That is just what we would love to do, we think in about a year, we will have achieved that.... Good on you! That is a really good question! One of the challenges is that sometimes, the joy of travel or any experience is sharing that with someone else. So it would be very flippant for us to say "Go for it, you will love it!". But what we would say is that when you travel, if you push yourself out of your comfort zone you will make friends quickly (Facebook groups for each location is great for this). We would also suggest that a great way for you to share the experience and also maintain fun activities would be to start your own blog or vlog, from what you say, there is a gap in that market and people are generally very nice (like you have been to us). Finally we strongly recommend checking out the following channel, she is so inspiring and a single woman travelling (note, we don't know her, we are just viewers of her channel) Search for Alina Mcleod. Hope that helps give you food for thought. Best wishes Neil & Sarah

I still have time before I can start my international travel and I think it will look different than what I had in mind pre-Covid. Until then I can live vicariously through you both and get better ideas on do's and don'ts. Much Appreciated. Hopefully I'll cross paths with you somewhere in the world. Depending on where you go, it's well under $1500 USD a month. It's way cheaper to travel in retirement to countries where you have a currency advantage, than to stay at home. That prevents retirement, or kills it for most people. Lack of thinking outside the box and being willing to accept some uncertainty.
