Now,Paul, I think you missed a major cost centre that is very important to you personally- the cost of a pub parmi in all its varieties😂.

Great video !! The fact that you guys do not try to live as cheaply as possible prompted my question. If you go on an adventure, you want to experience everything and the people as much as possible and I think that can not really be done without paying for a lot. Also contributes to the wealth of these smaller places. Not a full time traveller , but in-between looking after grand kids and doing other "normal" things when at home, it is great to find out what a longer adventure will cost. I always work on "whatever you budget for any trip, add at least 50% on top" to make sure you do not need to worry about swimming with the dolphins or hiring a boat or ... Great break-down. Really appreciated

Your "cost centres" grouping is similar to mine - fixed costs for car/caravan rego and CTP; fixed allocation for car/caravan maintenance; and operating costs. I keep a spreadsheet with a red line showing the budget limit (excluding the fixed costs) on a graph, and weekly actual costs in a green line - the green line needs to stay below the red line otherwise I need to cut back on living expenses to save.
@beyondthegreyozАй бұрын
@@fyiaustralia9686 yeah we found it valuable to separate the cost centre. It has made budgeting easier to manage. Cheers Paul and Wenda

Thanks Paul, very informative. Currently my fixed costs are $15,500 pa. I break down my variable costs into 12 categories. May and June were shockers at $10K and $19K. May was a $5K tax bill and June a $10K caravan service and some upgrades, September was about $10K due to a multitude of enforced 'stuff'. Other than those outliers, I'm at about $5k-$6k per month without hatches, matches and despatches. I live and work on the road with StarLink. I work Mon-Fri and move on Fridays. I generally go 'bush' for 3 weeks and spend a week in a town to replenish. I have 1.2 Kw of rooftop solar, 900Ah of Lithium, 600W of solar blankets and an emergency 160Ah Lithium battery box (oh, I also have an Engel, 2.3Kw genet set). I move less than 500Km per day when travelling. 01 Jul 2026 will be different from then on, because that's when the Army says I have to cease all forms of service.
@beyondthegreyozАй бұрын
@@stuartkcalvin yeah it all adds up. Car and van maintenance and upgrades can sneak up on you. But for the most part once the budget is set it’s just a matter of sticking to it. Thanks for sharing that 👍 Cheers Paul and Wenda

Thanks guys, that was a well explained breakdown of your costs. Am I right in adding all 3 cost centres together and divide by around 9-10 weeks for the duration of the Murray trip, it works out to be around $2000/ week? Also, just wondering if either of you miss having a house to return to, and whether you think you will eventually buy one again?
@beyondthegreyozАй бұрын
@@charmies1 thank you ☺️ yeah there’s not much change from 100k per year 😢 We don’t miss having a house at all. We are still trying to figure out where we would like to settle when we do stop. At the moment we think it will be on the the Murray River Cheers Paul and Wenda
