I have about 3 weeks of line training to go on the ATR before my final command check. Your videos have provided me with a lot of extra technical knowledge and insight. Thank you!

Can you provide a typical Line training syllabus for a new Trainee Captain and also what it is like flying the left seat unsupervised the first time and the common mistakes new Commanders make. Also touch on documentation that is part of the Commander's job such as Techlog and others that the F.O. does not have to be involved in. Touch on OMs and the regulatory aspects when it comes to decisions relating to the flight. Thanks.

First of all, when it comes to documents, it is required that both the first officer and the captain have the same knowledge about all of the documents. In some companies is the first officer allowed write in the technical log when the captain is busy with other things. And thank you for the idea to make a video about line training for captains!

@@FlywithMagnar Yes. It most companoes I have flown do not do that, certainly when I was an FO. It was only my curiosity that got me to learn by volunteering to annotate on those documents when I was approaching my command upgrade. Some techlog formats do not even show the FOs name. Certainly MEL or Voyage reports were shares by certain companies but the Techlog tended to be the exclusive domain of the Captain!

OK, that leaves me out. I managed to get a PPL. The theory and regulatory stuff was no problem. But skill? I was definitely no natural pilot.

Every captain started with a PPL. When I got my PPL, I was definitely not skilled. That requires practice, practice and practice. And respect.
