I am originally from and currently live in San Antonio, Texas and folks here are so uneducated about Moissanite. I was in the pawn shop around the corner recently and they had a Moissanite ring on display. I asked the kid about it and he says with this cocky little smirk that they don't take Moissanite but one of the other employees had gotten finnessed into buying it so they had to sell it. In fact, to purchase synthetic diamonds over moissanite would be quite foolish, because it cost about the same amount of money to produce both! The market has just brainwashed people into believing the synthetic diamond is incredibly valuable because its a replica of the real deal... something Jacoje's family member likely understood

Jacoje's view is very 1% centric. What Jacoje is missing is that moissanite isn't replacing the rare, perfect diamonds, those will still have value and stay desirable. The damage it's doing is on low end diamonds that most people buy. The problem for diamond is that's the bulk of their market that moissanite is going after and replacing. That people are actually choosing moissanite over diamond even after a century of propaganda and indoctrination should scare the diamond industry.
